Bach * INVOCATION Dear God, let us gather as all your saints have, in every time and place, to offer you our heartfelt praise. We need to love each other as you have shown us your love. For we know that as we love another, your love is perfected within us. You heal the brokenness within us; you heal the broken ones among us. You rescue us from the pain we inflict on others; you rescue us from the

fears, frailty, and failures that propel us to do that harm. Help us in our frantic disarray to be still and know you as our God; allow your Spirit to surround us and dwell in us; allow Christ s example to be evident to us and to empower us to joyous service. Blessings and glory, wisdom and honor, thanksgiving and power are yours, O God, forever and ever. Amen. Let us pray *THE LORD'S PRAYER (trespasses) Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever. Amen. *GLORIA PATRI Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen" SCRIPTURE READING: Job 19:23-27a ANTHEM: Let us now praise famous men Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872-1958) Let us now praise famous men, and our fathers that begat us. Such as did bear rule in their kingdoms, men renowned for their power, leaders of the people by their counsel, and by their knowledge. Such as found out musical tunes, and recited verses in writing: All these were honoured in their generation, and were the glory of our times. And some there be, which have no memorial; who are perished as though

they have never been. Their bodies are buried in peace; but their name liveth for evermore SCRIPTURE READING: Psalm 98 Luke 6:17-21a BAPTISM: Lily Kathleen Devoe Edgar Sophia Blodgett MORNING PRAYER CONGREGATION S JOYS AND CONCERNS Let us not pray for easy lives; Let us pray to be stronger women and men. ATTENDANCE Oct 25 Oct 31 October 21 - Church-91, Sunday School-30, Faith Formation-14 CANDLELIGHTER AND BELL RINGER Beginning again in September, a Candlelighter will enter the sanctuary: the flame (the lit taper of the lighting rod) will be brought to the altar and the 2 altar candles will be lit. The lighting happens to three tones of a hand bell. As the service ends, the Candlelighter will reenter, remove the flame (on the end of the lighting rod), snuff both candles, and exit with the lit rod, as again the bell toll 3 times. The Candle Lighting Ritual remembers Jesus words, Wherever 2 or 3 gather in my name, there I am in the midst of you. As we gather to worship, the faith becomes our burning reality. The bell is struck 3 times for the Trinity, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. At the end of the service, the flame does not remain on the altar, but goes back out into the world, into our very lives. Only when what we have read, what we have sung, what we have reflected upon becomes acted out is our faith a true reality. FLOWERS FOR THE ALTAR Please call Penny Lapham at 978-526-
