Cambridge, MA From the Pastor s Desk For some time now, we have been looking at the possibility of air conditioning the church. I feel that now it s time to move ahead, and I have a proposal for you. We will commit one half of the cost (estimated to be in the neighborhood of $100,000) from parish savings, and are asking parishioners to contribute the balance. I believe that together we can make this work and that by sometime this summer we can have the comfort of air conditioning in our worship space. Please let me know what you think! (Also, please know that no donation is too small or too large.) Summer schedule starts THIS weekend. And, please MAKE SURE TO NOTE TWO IMPORTANT DATES: Sunday, June 8 th for our Parish Picnic, and Saturday, June 14 th 4:00 p.m. Mass in honor of Bernadette Leahy (retiring principal of the School) with Reception to follow in the Parish Center. Change for Change A Special Van for Lizzie Please donate your change to help Elizabeth Lizzie Simione get a wheel chair accessible van. Lizzie is a 7 th grade student at Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, and the sister of Ava Simione who is in Grade 2 at St. Peter School. Bring the Eucharist to Our Neighbors Who Cannot Be With Us Our parish has a growing ministry to bring communion to people who are in nursing homes and assisted living facilities, as well as to people who are homebound. Please consider volunteering! This is a wonderful way to share our Eucharistic banquet with those who are nearby but unable to be with us. You can fit this ministry to your own schedule, in as little as an hour or two a week, on weekdays or weekends. No prior experience is needed. Deacon Tim O Donnell and his wife Elke will provide training and help with the logistics. If you are interested in exploring this, please call or email Deacon Tim at 617-897-1148 or todonnell@saintpetercambridge.org 5
