Gloria Deo Choir: This adult choir rehearses on Wednesday nights at 8:00pm in the sanctuary. NATIONAL BACK TO CHURCH SUNDAY There may be a number of reasons for it. It may be because of summer travel. It may be because life has just seemed too busy. It may be a simple case of falling out of habit or a feeling of losing touch. It may be the pain of a long-held guilt or a difficult experience. There are a number of reasons why people, especially over the summer months, may stop coming to receive Christ s mercy and love in worship. September 18 marks the National Back to Church Sunday. It s an opportunity to extend a gracious and warm welcome to all to come back to church. Take the opportunity to invite someone you may not have seen in worship for a while, or if you re the one who s fallen out of habit, you re warmly invited to fall back into coming to church! Make it a point to make a fresh start the weekend of September 17-18! SAVE YOUR SHOES! Coming later this fall, we are going to host another shoe drive to benefit the Senior High Youth Workcamp for summer 2017. A change this year is that they are asking for only gently worn shoes. (If you wouldn t give the shoes to your friends, then DON T send them.) We earn.40 cents per pound that is donated. Shoes go to Funds2orgs, an organization that ships these shoes to underdeveloped countries. Individuals there get the shoes to sell, refurbish, or use the parts for their business. More information about this organization is available at: www.funds2orgs.com. Inform your coworkers, sport teams, etc., and start collecting! Watch for more information for when the collection bins will be set up. DID YOU KNOW? Saint Paul School enrollment is 265 students for the 2016-17 school year. This is up from 250 last year!!!

We are lining up projects that you can be involved in, or you can choose your own project to do that works within your time schedule. We ll all report back, and the weekend will include a how and what we did wrap up. Save some time for service to our community that weekend. Sign ups for projects will begin on Sunday, September 4. Please pray for good weather! CHLTB PLANNING TEAM Love to serve God by serving others? Want to be part of a planning team that makes that happen? Our next meeting is Thursday, October 13 at 7:00pm. We always welcome new members! Contact Dari Hartmann if you have more questions. THE CHURCH HAS LEFT THE BUILDING BOXWOOD BASH RECAP The 25 th Boxwood Bash was a great success and Saint Paul was a big part of it thanks to your generosity and volunteering. It was a circus theme this year and Saint Paul provided the midway games for children to play. We had all these games - bean bag toss, putting green, Bozo buckets, Velcro ball darts, basket ring toss, lollipop pull, Frisbee throw, and flamingo ring toss - where children won small prizes and snacks. We also had a craft table and caricature artists. We raffled off eight sets of gift cards, two soccer balls, and four music

lessons to the Des Plaines School of Music. We told people about Breakfast with Baby and handed out diapers. The smiles of the children and parents were everywhere and we even had one grandma get a hole in one for one of her grandchildren! Through your generosity everyone at Saint Paul was there with us as we shared the love of Christ to those less fortunate. Thank you very much! And thanks to Thrivent for providing additional funding and tee shirts for this Action Team. We could not have run the games without all of our volunteers. Thank you so much for helping, smiling, and showing God s love: Bellot Family Lisa, Genevieve, Claudine; Bill and Eileen Brazelton; Duckmann Family Vern, Anna, Johanna, Lili, Ella; Jon-Michael Hoskinson; Menze Family Karla, Katherine, Caroline; Sue and Debbie Schreiner; Suzuki Family Jeff, Carol, Jenni, Jo, and Jadyn; Andres Valencia; Dennis and Joyce Voss; Mack Wilson-Leigh; and thanks to Pastor Bo, Hannah, and Ellie for joining us at the Bash! Thanks again to everyone for bringing The Church Has Left The Building to our community! - In Christ, Tom Schreiner FOOD DONATIONS FOR SEPTEMBER NEEDED For the month of September we are asking members whose last name begins with I, J, K or L, or any who have a heart for this ministry, to contribute.
