EBO Officials pay tribute to the late Al Big Daddy Forman. Al Forman was more than an EBO Rules Interpreter. He was a mentor, a father figure and a friend. Al comforted and befriended a number of people in his life and he always held the EBO family in high regards. He dedicated countless hours to improving EBO officials, providing training and ensuring that EBO was properly represented in the Washington DC scholastic athletics arena. The EBO thanked the Forman family for allowing him to share so much of his time with the EBO.

From the Forman Family : Alfred Jr. (Boo) and I wish to extend to the men and women of the Eastern Board of Officials (EBO) our heartfelt thanks for inviting us to EBO's annual banquet and for the wonderful tribute you bestowed on our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Alfred "Big Daddy" Forman. It is heartwarming to know that Al touched so many lives and that he was loved and respected by so many. He was a proud member of EBO and he loved the work that he did as your Football Commissioner and as a Football Rules Interpreter for many years. We know that he would be pleased and proud of being designated "Football Commissioner Emeritus." Please know that we will be forever thankful for all you have done to honor Al's memory and to help us adjust to a life without him. We all miss him but we are comforted by the fact that he will be with us always in our hearts and memories. Kudos to the Banquet Committee for a well-planned and orchestrated banquet. The food was delicious and the fellowship was excellent. Congratulations on a job well done. We have been humbled by your love, thoughtfulness, generosity, and support. We pray that God will continue to richly bless each of you and the EBO organization.

Notable quotes from Al Forman : Some of you are legends in your own mind! What radio station are you listening to, because you sure aren t officiating the game? Don t let your feet outrun your mind. You have to develop a ghetto trot. Sell your call! I can tell when you re not counting just by following the bill on your hat. You can play the entire game without a whistle. It s officiated by rule. You can t have a good game without a good pre-game!

About Our Organization Eastern Board of Officials, Inc. P.O. Box 644 Washington, DC 20044 We re on the Web! See us at: http://eboinc.org he Right Call The Eastern Board of Officials President Roosevelt McIlwain Jr. Editorial Staff Editor: Derek F. Hatten The Right Call, an official publication of the Eastern Board of Officials. The Eastern Board of Officials, Inc., of Washington, D.C., hereafter the EBO is an organization dedicated to sports officiating. At this time our primary sports are basketball and football. The purpose of this organization is to: a) Promote clean sportsmanship through good officiating in all sports; b) Assist in the development of officiating through the press, public interpretation, clinics and demonstrations of the rules in various sports; and c) Serve as a resource for members, the general public and other athletic organizations for sports officiating, rules interpretation, training and other areas and services for the improvement of athletics and good sportsmanship. EBO educates, challenges and inspires officials. Join us for an exciting and promising vocation! The Eastern Board of Officials is currently looking for basketball and football officials. If you are interested and can meet the challenge, Contact: Michael Cunningham at (301) 395-5782 or (202) 502-8353 (work). The Referees Review: Officials play a very important role in the game, from keeping the game rolling along and calling penalties when a rule is broken, to making sure the athletes don't unnecessarily hurt each other. Officials are responsible for monitoring the game clock and play clock, enforcing the rules of the game, and recording all rule infractions.
