Matthew 11:28, Come unto me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. To all who sin and need a Savior, to all who are burdened and need rest, to all who sorrow and long for comfort, to all who struggle and seek victory, to all who hunger and thirst after righteousness, and to whosoever will come, Providence Presbyterian Church opens wide her doors and offers welcome in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Preparation For Worship Prelude and Silent Prayer of Preparation Welcome and Announcements (Please pass registration pad after signing) Mrs. Lori Parker Elder Harold Miller Choir Introit The Adoration Of God Prayer of Adoration and Lord s Prayer Elder Harold Miller *Call to Worship From Psalm 122 and 123 Elder Harold Miller I rejoiced with those who said to me, Let us go to the house of the Lord. We lift up our eyes to you, to you whose throne is in heaven. As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their master and the eyes of a maid look to the hand of her mistress, So our eyes look to the Lord our God, till he shows us his mercy. *Hymn of Praise All Creatures of Our God and King No. 115 *Confession of Faith Apostles Creed See Front Left Cover of Hymnal
The Adoration Of God Continued *Congregational Response ALL Holy, Holy, Holy! Nicaea Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty! Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee; Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty, God in three persons, blessed Trinity! Confession Of Our Need Of Christ And God s Grace Corporate Confession of Sin ALL Almighty, eternal God and Father, we confess and acknowledge that we were conceived and born in sin, and are therefore inclined to all evil and slow to all good, that we transgress thy holy commandments without ceasing, and ever more corrupt ourselves. But we are sorry for the same, and seek thy grace and help. Please have mercy upon us, most gracious and merciful God and Father, through your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Grant to us and increase in us thy Holy Spirit, that we may recognize our sin and unrighteousness from the bottom of our hearts, attain true repentance and sorrow for them, die to them wholly, and please thee entirely by a new and godly life. Amen. from Martin Bucer s Strasburg Liturgy (1539) The Assurance of God s Pardoning Grace Isaiah 55:6, 7 Elder Harold Miller Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon. *Hymn of Thanksgiving All the Way My Savior Leads Me No. 605
The Response Of Thanksgiving Offertory Prayer Receiving Tithes/Offerings/Choral Anthem Elder Harold Miller arr. Mac Lynch "Soldiers of Christ, Arise" ~ Choir Anthem ~ Soldiers of Christ, arise, and put your armor on, Strong in the strength which God supplies through His eternal Son; Strong in the Lord of hosts, and in His mighty power, Who in the strength of Jesus trusts is more than conqueror. Stand then in His great might, with all His strength endued, And take, to arm you for the fight, the panoply of God; That having all things done, and all your conflicts past, Ye may o ercome through Christ alone, and stand entire at last. Leave no unguarded place, no weakness of the soul; Take every virtue, every grace, and fortify the whole, From strength to strength go on, wrestle and fight and pray; Tread all the powers of darkness down, and win the well-fought day. Soldiers of Christ, arise!
The Means Of Grace Old Testament Scripture Reading Elder Harold Miller 1 Samuel 18:10-30 Page 241 Saul's fears are intelligible, for his own position was largely based on prestige and now David's reputation was beginning to outweigh his own. Had David been unscrupulously ambitious, indeed, Saul's fears would have been far from groundless. However, his early efforts to remove David misfired; the final scheme recounted in this chapter served only to increase David's fame and bring him right into the royal family! Congregational Response Gloria Patri No. 735 Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, a-men.
