Confirmation: November 23, 2013 Mission Statement: The Parish family of St. Michael Church is a welcoming, compassionate Christian community. We deepen our love for Christ by seeking life-long faith formation, praying, celebrating the Sacraments and reaching out to others with works of mercy.

St. Michael Catholic Church Community, fellowship, close relationship, (koinonia- Greek) is a key reality and word found in the Scriptures. We don t come to God as isolated individuals. Immediately after his birth, Jesus is the member of a Holy Family. When Jesus is born in our hearts, he empowers us to be sons and daughters of God, brothers and sisters to each other. We are part of the Holy Family of God. This Holy Family is one that experiences both the joys of communion and the tensions of working and living together. Notice that even the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph had some tensions and anxieties for example, as they looked for Jesus and found him in the temple. Even Jesus had to grow in wisdom before God, all the while remaining sinless. Fr. St. Michael Church Cleaning Please be generous with your time to clean God's house during this Advent season. It only takes about an hour & a half on Saturday mornings. St. Theresa s Circle is in charge of cleaning the church for the month of January. If you have not been contacted, please call Pam Mears at 239-5892. Area Programs & Opportunities Walk With Me Jesus, a Women of Grace study for Catholic widows, will be offered in the home of Beth Noel, Sacred Heart parishioner. Walk With Me, Jesus, A Widow s Journey, by Rhonda Chervin, PhD, draws on the themes of The Stations of the Cross to join the sufferings of widowhood with the Passion of our Savior to promote healing that is beautiful and meaningful. At the end of each chapter there are questions and thoughts posed to facilitate discussion. We would hope to get started reading before the holidays. This is not a study supported by any particular parish; just an invitation from Beth to share a book, meet and discuss in a comfortable setting. If interested, please contact Beth at 253-1808, and visit www.womenofgrace.com, to purchase the book if interested or just to see what it s about. During this Year of Faith, the Adult Faith Formation Team for St. Boniface and St. Joseph invites you to attend a 12-week video series of adult education classes focused on the Creed, one of four pillars outlined in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Dr. Sean Innerst will be the presenter. We will make use of the big screen TV in the parish hall at St. Joseph s (1112 8th Street). The classes will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. on Mondays beginning January 7, 2013 and ending, April 1, 2013 with no class held on Monday, February18, President s Day. The price for the workbook is $27.95. Couples attending the class only need 1 workbook. Participants will also need a copy of the Catechism. To register, contact Deacon Bruce Chartier at 712.898.6165 or bruce.chartier@tic.toshiba.com. Blessed are they who dwell in your house, O Lord.
