Carrier of the Musk المسك) (حامل Class #48 (المقدمة) How did the Prophet (pbuh) start his sermons? Page 5 Introduction Recited in Class: ان الحمد هلل نحمده و نستعينه و نستغفره و نعوذ باهلل من شرور انفسنا و سيئات اعمالنا من يهد هللا فال مضل له و من يضلل فال هادي له و اشهد ان ال اله اال هللا وحده ال شريك له و اشهد ان محمدا عبده و رسوله. All praise be to Allah, we praise Him, we seek His help, we seek His forgiveness and we seek refuge in Allah from the evil of ourselves and from the evil of our deeds. Whomever Allah guides, there is none who can misguide, and whoever is misguided none can guide. And I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, alone with no partners, and I bear witness that Mohammed (pbuh) is His servant and messenger. O you who believe! Fear Allâh as He should be feared, and die not except in a state of Islâm Surah An Nisa a 1: O mankind! Be dutiful to your Lord, Who created you from a single person (Adam), and from him He created his wife and from them both He created many men and women; and fear Allâh through Whom you demand (your mutual rights), and (do not cut the relations of) the wombs. Surely, Allâh is Ever an All Watcher over you. Keep your duty to Allâh and fear Him, and speak (always) the truth. (70) He will direct you to do righteous good deeds and will forgive you your sins. And whosoever obeys Allâh and His Messenger (SAW) he has indeed achieved a great achievement (71) (طرق اكتساب الحكمة) Chapter: Ways to Gain Wisdom (الحكمة في الدعوة) The Wisdom in the Dawah :(المطلب االول السلوك الحكيم) First Requirement: The Wise Way/Attitude The foundation of your (سلوك) is your.(أخالق) So your (أخالق) is what is inside, and your (سلوك) is what is reflected on the outside. Page 1
:(أخالق) Types of Natural :(طبيعي) someone who is naturally patient or forbearing for example, they do not have to struggle to have it. Similarly a person can naturally be angry. Most of our (أخالق) are not natural. Adopted as a result of practice من العادة و التدريب) :(مستفادا for example, you need to think in order to be patient. And then with so much practice, patience will come to you without thinking that it becomes a part of your.(أخالق) Allah (swt) nurtures you to adopt good characters without even knowing about these good characters. Everybody is a test for us, but we do not understand why they are testing us, but the most important quality to have is patience. Because we do not have time to analyze what is the wisdom behind the test when we are right there facing it, so the most و ج ع لن ا ب ع ض ڪ م ل ب ع ض ف تن ة ( 20: immediate and important quality to have is patience. Surah Al Furqan (And We have made some of you as a trial for others: will you have patience?). Sometimes ) أ ت ص ب ر ون people even get tested in the roads, and they have to be patient. Victory comes with patience. In order to have forbearance, you need to practice forbearance. Allah is Ar Rabb, He is nurturing you in order to elevate you, either to remove a bad character within you, or to make good characters a part of your nature, subhan Allah. We end up failing our tests because we didn t know what we are going through, but when we realize it, then we can be elevated faster. The Messengers were being nurtured by being shepherds, they are nurtured with sheep before the people, subhan Allah. The characters of your spouse, children, parents, friends, all the people you meet are what you need in order to be elevated. So we need patience in order to reach, subhan Allah. o When you have (أخالق) within you, then it becomes your.(سلوك) Sometimes when you are with a certain group then you need to react a certain way, and with another group, another way. And this becomes too much to handle because there are so many people, (أخالق) in which you are balanced, and then your (سلوك حكيم ( have so instead you should.(حكيم) will suit everybody that is when you are o (سلوك) is the outer look of your (أخالق) and a symbol of it. o How will people know about your?(أخالق) By your attitude. Your (أخالق) are within you, but they will learn about you by your attitude, which is outer. For example, if a person comes and screams at you, they will know your attitude by the way you react. Are you patient? That is why you cannot fool anyone with your body language. :(مسالك في اكتساب الحكمة) Ways / Attitudes to gain wisdom Having a role model الداعية في سلوكه) :(قدوة have a role model for the way you talk, act, react. The role model has to be wise and a leader, and our role model who went through all situations, and was good inside and outside the house is the Prophet (pbuh). The Prophet (pbuh) did not speak with desire. If we take others, they might be role models in one area, but not another. And we have to thank Allah (swt) that He conceals our sins. The Prophet (pbuh) is the best role model because he went through all situations, we cannot take Eisa (as) as a role model since he did not have children, we cannot take Suleiman and Dawud (as) as role models because they have never experienced poverty. When you take the Prophet (pbuh) as a role model, you will be wise because he did Page 2
و إ ن ك ل ع ل ى خ ل ق ( 4: everything with wisdom. The way he walked, the way he spoke, etc. Surah Al Qalam character) (And verily, you (O Muhammad SAW) are on an exalted (standard of) (ع ظ يم o The Prophet (pbuh) was just, but did that mean everyone was happy with him? No. Why did people reject him? Was it because he wasn t wise or not making sense? No, but because of arrogance. When you have a good balanced attitude, and people don t like it, it means there is a problem with them, a sickness in their heart, don t change your self. o The Prophet (pbuh) was grabbed by a Bedouin and he smiled at him, would we be able to react the same way? And his reaction was the best because it was wise. ) ن ع ل م إ ن ه ۥ ل ي ح ز ن ك ٱل ذ ى ي ق ول و ن ف إ ن ہ م ال يك ذ ب ون ك و ل ك ن ٱلظ ل م ي ن ب اي ت ٱ لل ي ج ح د و ن ( :33 o Surah Al An am (We know indeed the grief which their words cause you (O Muhammad SAW): it is not you that they deny, but it is the Verses (the Qur'ân) of Allâh that the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong doers) deny.) Allah (swt) is addressing the Prophet (pbuh) - if you see people are rejecting you, remember that you are inspired by Allah (swt). Don t take it personally they are actually ungrateful to the signs of Allah (swt). Even before his prophethood, the people knew that he was the most honest and would not lie. o Once the Prophet (pbuh) called on the people, and before he would give them his message, he asked them, if I were to tell you there is an army of horses behind the mountain, would you believe me? They said yes. So he got the guarantee from them that he would not lie. So then he told them that I am warner to you of a great punishment, they turned away and did not believe him, subhan Allah. o Aishah (ra) said that the Prophet s (pbuh) character was the Quran. So you can also take the Quran as a source, and imagine the Quran is not crooked and straight, so of course you will have wisdom. Though Allah (swt) could have revealed the Quran without the Prophet (pbuh), but you get to see it being applied through a human, the Prophet (pbuh). That is why it is important to know the Seerah of the Mohammed (pbuh) and to see the wisdom in it. Aqeedah - Chapter Two الثاني) (الفصل Requirement Two الثاني) (المطلب Types of Worship العبادة) (انواع p. 39-40: (انواع العبادة) Types of worship :(الدعاء) I. Dua a (التوسل) 1. Tawwasul (االستعانة) 2. Love.(يجب أن تصرف لل تعالى (اقسام المحبة) Types of Love (محبة هللا تعالى) (swt) Love of Allah Page 3
(المحبة لل و في لل) Love for the sake of Allah (محبة مباحة) Permissible Love (محبة شرك أكبر) Love that is Major Shirk :(محبة شرك أصغر) Love that is Minor Shirk Examples of minor shirk in love: الغلو في محبة النبي ( (pbuh) o To exaggerate in the love of the Prophet (pbuh) we are supposed to love the Prophet :(صلى هللا عليه و سلم more than ourselves, but we do not need to exceed the boundary of expressing this love. For example, those who celebrate his birthday or make poems as a religious practice. And if it becomes equal to the love of Allah (swt) then that is major shirk. The love of Prophet (pbuh) can lead to shirk, and ي ق ول ع ل ى ال م ن ب ر س م ع ت الن ب ي ( Hadith: that is why he set a boundary. (Narrated `Umar: I heard the Prophet ) ع ب د ه ف ق ول وا ع ب د هللا و ر س ول ه o saying, "Do not exaggerate in praising me as the (ﷺ) Christians praised the son of Mary, for I am only a Slave. So, call me the Slave of Allah and His Apostle.") Sahih Al Bukhari 3445 He said do not over praise me, because it will affect negatively and can lead to shirk. That is why the best praise for the Prophet (pbuh) is to call him Slave of Allah. And it is best to praise Allah (swt) because He praises you and rewards you, subhan Allah. :(الغلو في محبة المؤمنين) To exaggerate in the love of the believers to love the believers for the sake of Allah (swt) is a worship, but do not exceed it, how? By over-exaggerating and over-praising them. And it goes from a legislated love to love in minor shirk. It is very easy to love what is good, and that becomes more of a trial because that love for the sake of Allah (swt) can go beyond and become minor shirk. For example, a child that is troublesome and another child that is easygoing, to love the troublesome child for the sake of Allah (swt) is easier than to love the child that is easygoing for the sake of Allah (swt) because that love can transgress. And that shows you that trials can come in ways of good and bad, subhan Allah. How do you know if you are loving for the sake of Allah (swt)? It is consistent and unconditional. When they do something good, you do not love them more, and if they do something bad, you do not love them less. May Allah (swt) guide us. Ameen. It becomes shirk when you begin to depend on them, and hope to get something from them, because this Page 4
o III. (الخوف) Fear IV. (الرغبة) Hope which makes you act V. (الرهبة) Fear which makes you act VI. (الخشية) Fear with knowledge VII. (الرجاء) Hope VIII. (التوكل) Reliance IX. (التوبة) Repentance X. (الذبح) Slaughter becomes conditional love, not unconditional love. And this can lead to the point of obeying the beloved while disobeying Allah (swt). For example, there are people who sin because of their over-love of a person. (الغلو في المحبة الطبيعية) To exaggerate in natural love If you direct any of these worships to other than Allah (swt), then it is major shirk. Page 5
