THIS WEEK S FEATURES ProVISION 20/20 is our project to support our clergy staffing needs from 2020 onwards. THANK YOU! Responses = 102 Really Looking forward to Easter our Response by Day! We thank God for all your replies to date. TRINITY has about 290 households/members and we are hoping that everyone will be able to respond by Easter Day to indicate their endorsement of our vision. There are boxes at the back of all three church locations to receive your forms. On the strength of the church s response we shall know whether we will be able to create the new stipendiary role of Associate Vicar. Everyone s reply is therefore crucial. Thank you for being willing to do what you can to support us as we move into this new phase of our church s life. With love Steve TRINITY DAY ONE SUNDAY Service Sunday 5th May 2019 at the TRINITY Centre, St John sub Castro,10:30am Communion Service with Bishop Richard Jackson. Theme: Thy Kingdom Come. TRINITY-WIDE NEWS & EVENTS Decorating the Church for Easter Saturday 20th April 9.30am. If you can help please contact Lin Pilfold. Parish Giving Scheme update for TRINITY Vision 20/20 If you wish to change your PGS monthly giving it is very simple. You telephone the parish giving scheme in Gloucester on 01452 835595 quoting: Parish TRINITY Church Lewes reference number 100610471. You will need to quote your reference number for PGS which you will find on your bank statement. Please remember that regular giving through PGS is for both the running of the parish and for funds allocated to our mission partners. We would therefore like to encourage you to make PGS your main giving and then only if you want to, top up in the weekly collections or in some other way. That will reduce the burden on the finance team and also reduce our bank charges. If you have any questions about the passage please email Steve and he will add his response in a following broadcast. You can, of course, unsubscribe at any time. We believe God speaks to us through his Word and Spirit. Part of a living relationship with Jesus is to take time to listen and to learn God s will for our lives. As a church we encourage each other to set aside a portion of the day meditating upon God s word. One way of doing this is to use the Scripture Union WORDLIVE programme which is a simple and practical way to pray, read, reflect and respond to God s word, with additional material to help you go deeper into the background of the Bible passage. https:// www.wordlive.org/session Living Lent - Be inspired to buy nothing new through Lent, Read the Creation Care blog on the TRINITY website about Freecycling http://trinitylewes.org/2017/04/ freegling-and-the-wider-picture-forour-world/. THIS MONTHS MISSION FEATURE Hello! My name is Lisa Buyinza and I ve been serving with River of Life Church in Masaka, Uganda for 3 and a half years. One of the ministries I m involved with is the prison ministry. Every fortnight, myself and Juliet visit the local women s prison to preach God s Word, worship together & encourage the women. DISCIPLESHIP This year we ve started working through the Freedom in Christ series. We ve noticed a more joyful atmosphere amongst the Christian women in recent weeks the joy of the lord as their strength. We were also so pleased to see that the ladies had taken the initiative of writing themselves their own fellowship rota dedicating a couple of hours to pray & share God s Word together every day, when we aren t there to lead them! Praise God for their hunger for Jesus. PERSONAL STORIES The ladies were all encouraged that three of the Christian prisoners (all sisters) were released in February, after serving a 3-year sentence for manslaughter. The women were known as the pastors of the prison fellowship because of their devotion and love for Jesus. Since their release, a young girl has been nominated the new pastor, which she s very pleased about! Three of the ladies recently gave birth in the prison; so there are two new born baby girls and one baby boy living there. Life in the prison is hard the women are taken to work to dig for hours each day and are given rationed amounts of simple food. Women that have children in the prison/ or pregnant, don t receive any additional food. Being reminded of God s promises & his faithfulness encourages the ladies faith & hope, to persevere through difficult conditions.
LOVE BEYOND LANGUAGE! It touches me to experience the love & faith amongst the women in the group and building relationships with them, despite the limitations of language. A new lady from another area/tribe has recently joined the prison she doesn t speak English or much Luganda (the local dialect in Masaka) so she is struggling in the prison. She seemed excited when I led the worship session in Luganda songs apparently she said: if a muzungu (White person) is learning Luganda, then I can too! That made us smile! J Loose Collections Every loose collection will be shared amongst our mission partners. This week we are focusing our prayers on River of Life, Uganda and Lisa Buyinza. If you would like to give to the Church and not to the current mission partner please use the appropriate envelope: either a Gift Aid one or a nontaxpayer's one. Non-taxpayers please note: under the Gift Aid Small Donor Scheme (GASDS) the Church can claim gift aid on cash donations of 20 or less, no details are required. Please ask a Church Warden if you cannot find the correct envelope. If you have a notice... All events, ministries or notices for publication in any of our media should go to office@trinitylewes.org. Please note that the deadline for the notice sheet is Wednesday 9am. Please note Monday is the Clergy, Youth Minister s and Children s Minister s day-off, and Friday is Janette Watkins day-off (Pastoral Minister) so they are not available on those days except for emergencies. PRAYER REQUESTS - Increased faith, hope & love in the prison - Spiritual growth & endurance - More lives saved by Jesus! - Release of the falsely accused Safeguarding We take the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults seriously. Therefore if you have any concerns please speak to any of our Lead or Deputy Safeguarding Representatives: Jane Lee is our Lead representative, supported by Amanda Burgess who is Deputy Safeguarding Representative for Children; and Jenni Taylor who is Deputy Safeguarding Representative for Vulnerable Adults.
