United Methodist Church of Antioch Celebration of the Week of the Young Child April 7, 2019 8:00 and 10:30 am GATHERING The mission of the United Methodist Church of Antioch is to grow in faith; to worship God following the teachings of Jesus Christ, and to be instruments of God s love through the Holy Spirit as we reach out to our community and the world. PRELUDE ANNOUNCEMENTS/MISSION STATEMENT *SONG OF GATHERING # 147 All Things Bright and Beautiful *WE ARE WELCOMED TO WORSHIP L: Dear God, we thank you for the gift of this new day: P: Let us live it happily; L: Let us remember your love for us and for your children everywhere; P: Help us to love and serve you and other people. L: This is the day that you, O God, have made. P: Let us rejoice and be glad in it. *WE SHARE IN PRAYER L: God, you are the Creator. You created the world and everything in it. You spun out galaxies and stars. You formed the mountains and the oceans. You imagined and made elephants and ants, whales and minnows, corn and roses and people. Praise God, who is greater than we can imagine. L: God, you are forever. We know that everything you made has a beginning and an end. Even mountains are born and die. But you always have been and always will be. Praise God, who is greater than we can imagine. L: God, you are more than a father or mother. You made us, and you know all there is to know about each of us. You are always with us, always ready to respond when we pray. Praise God, who is greater than we can imagine. L: God, you are greater love than we can imagine. You came among us as Jesus to show us that love. You care for us and forgive us, even when we do not deserve it. Praise God, who is greater than we can imagine. THE LORD S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

We thank you for the gracious gift of your abiding presence. Accept what we bring in Jesus name, we pray. Amen. HYMN # 141 Children of the Heavenly Father GROWING WE ASK FOR UNDERSTANDING Lord God, thank you for making us, for loving us, for forgiving us, and guiding us. We know you are here with us right now. As we enter into your word, the Bible, help us draw close to you, to understand and to listen to what you have to say to us. Amen. WE HEAR THE GOOD NEWS Genesis 6: 11 22, 7: 17, 8: 14 20, 9: 11 13; Genesis 21: 6; Psalm 126: 1-2 L: The Word of God for the people of God. P: Thanks be to God. REFLECTION Smile! God Loves You! The Rev. Dr. Char Hoffmann WE ARE INVITED TO SHARE IN THE BREAD AND CUP (8:00 a.m.) L: At this common meeting place of the Lord s table, we enter into a spirit of togetherness, becoming one body in Christ, all members one of another. P: We are all followers of Christ and share the bread and cup as an act of unity, recognizing our joining with all believers everywhere in all times. L: We remember the price paid for our redemption so that we may have life in abundance. P: We remember the presence of the risen Christ among us and recommit ourselves to the way of the cross. L: Let us make ready our hearts and minds, leaving judgment of others aside, considering only our own relationship to God. P: We come as penitent believers, asking forgiveness, accepting God s transforming grace and recommitting our lives totally to Christ as Lord.

L: Let us keep the feast; for the spiritual food is the gift of Christ to us. P: Let us experience the mystery, for here Christ gives himself to us again, and we are renewed on our spiritual journey, looking forward to the age to come. Amen.
