The Phillipston Congregational Church, U.C.C. Our Community Church Worship is at 10:00 a.m. Sunday School is also at 10:00 a.m. after the children have heard a Bible story Dear Friends, A friend recently shared a story. Her car had a flat tire in New Hampshire. She called AAA and was waiting for a person to help her. After she called AAA, a car stopped with two people who offered to help, she declined explaining that AA A was on their way. A few minutes later another car stopped and an older couple was in the front with a younger man in the back seat of the car. They also offered to help. My friend again declined. But then the woman insisted. The young man proceed to change the tire, as the older couple explained they were on their way to lunch. My friend said, "Please let me pay for your lunch." They declined the money. Then they explained that in their church for Advent, they were supposed to do an act of kindness in Jesus' name, and instead of accepting any reimbursement, to simply say, we do this in Advent in the name of Jesus. This reminds me of a South American tradition in which children do anonymous acts of kindness to prepare the way for the Christ Child. Each time they do an act of kindness, they may put a piece of straw in the manger for the Christ Child. May we prepare a place for the homeless child to stay and be welcome, a place for the Christ Child. Your sister in Christ, Rev. Stephanie C. Flynn Christmas Eve Worship is Sunday, December 24 at 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. THE NEWSLETTER IS ON www.phillipston.com January 2018 NEWSLETTER DEADLINE IS December 23 rd For information on the newsletter visit www.phillipston.com/priceinfo.pdf
