Welcome to St. George Church A Parish with Spirit and Heart! 74 Old Glenwood Rd. West Falls, NY 14170-9704 Web: www.stgeorgercchurch.org Email: stgeorge.wf@gmail.com Parish Office: (716) 652-3153 Fax: (716) 687-1336 Sr. Lori High, SSMN, Parish Administrator Kathy Kita, Director of Faith Formation Msgr. Jim Wall, Sacramental Minister Week of October 2, 2016 Twenty-Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time This weekend marks two months since Bishop Malone appointed me to serve as Administrator here at St. George Parish. I have learned something new about the parish or the parishioners each and every day. I am continually impressed with the dedication of the staff and volunteers who make St. George a welcoming site for worship and fellowship. I appreciate very much the gentle spirituality of Father Jim and find working with him easy and uplifting. Working with the Parish Council and Finance committee in the coming weeks, we plan to finalize a budget for this fiscal year which supports the many ministry efforts of the parish. New Federal Labor laws come into effect December 1st which will impact our parish employees and their work schedules. At this time, any changes for us appear to be minor and mostly in terms of bookkeeping. As we enter into 2017, our parish is scheduled to enter into the Diocesan Capital Campaign known as Upon This Rock. Much more information about this giving appeal will be forthcoming. Many of you may know of the effort through Catholic radio and publications. It is a broad based, long term approach to underwriting many of the Catholic organizations of the Diocese. My initial understanding is that due to our early 2017 focus on Upon This Rock, we at St. George will be invited to make our Catholic Charities donation of 2017 through the Upon This Rock effort, rather than have two simultaneous Catholic appeals in the Spring. It is with trust in Jesus and for the glory of God's name that we join together as people of faith. I am truly pleased to be with you on this journey. Thank you. Sister Lori
