The Fourth Sunday in Lent The Holy Eucharist THE LITURGY OF THE WORD Processional Come Thou Fount Of Every Blessing CCLI: 108389 Bless the Lord who forgives all our sins. His mercy endures forever. Let us pray. Collect for Purity (in unison) Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy Name; through Christ our Lord. Amen. The Decalogue (please kneel) Exodus 20:1-17; Deuteronomy 5:6-21 God spoke these words and said: I am the Lord your God, you shall have no other gods but me.

Trisagion You shall not make for yourself any image or likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or in the earth beneath, or in the waters under the earth; you shall not bow down to them or worship them. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain. Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy. Honor your father and your mother. You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. You shall not covet. Lord, have mercy upon us, give us grace to keep these laws, and write them upon our hearts. Flanagan

Collect (remain kneeling) Gracious Father, whose blessed Son Jesus Christ came down from heaven to be the true bread which gives life to the world: Evermore give us this bread, that he may live in us, and we in him; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. First Reading (all be seated) 2 Chronicles 36:14-23 (Pew Bible p. 365) The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. The Gradual (all remain seated) Psalm 137: 1-2, 3, 4-5, 6 Response: (Cantor sings once, then all sing) Verses: (Cantor sings Verse, then all sing Response) By the streams of Babylon we sat and wept When we remembered Zion. On the aspens of that land We hung up our harps. (Response) For there our captors asked of us The lyrics of our songs, And our despoilers urged us to be joyous: Sing for us the songs of Zion! (Response) How could we sing a song of the LORD In a foreign land? If I forget you, Jerusalem, May my right hand be forgotten! (Response) May my tongue cleave to my palate If I remember you not, If I place not Jerusalem Ahead of my joy. (Response) Second Reading Ephesians 2:4-10 (Pew Bible p. 950) The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

Sequence (all stand) Come To Me (verses 1-2, chorus) The Village Church Deacon: The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Saint John. Glory to you, Lord Christ. Holy Gospel John 6:1-15 (Pew Bible p. 867) Deacon: The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Christ. Sequence Come To Me (verses 3-4, chorus) The Village Church

Sermon Nicene Creed (all stand) We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, visible and invisible. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father [and the Son], who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Prayers of the People (please kneel) The Celebrant says: Let us pray for the Church and for the world, saying, Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer. For the peace of the whole world, and for the well-being and unity of the people of God, let us pray to the Lord. Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer. For our Archbishops, Justin and Foley, our Bishop, Keith, and for our clergy, staff and vestry, and for all the clergy and people of our diocese and congregation, let us pray to the Lord. Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer. For all those who proclaim the Gospel at home and abroad; and for all who teach and disciple others, let us pray to the Lord. Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer. For our brothers and sisters in Christ who are persecuted for their faith, let us pray to the Lord. Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer. For our nation, for those in authority and for all in public service especially Donald, our President, the members of Congress and our judges, and the members of our military serving both here and abroad, let us pray to the Lord. Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer. For all those who are in trouble, sorrow, need, sickness, or any other adversity, let us pray to the Lord. Please add your own petitions Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer. For all the blessings of this life let us thank the Lord. Please add your own thanksgivings Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer.

For all those who departed this life in the certain hope of the resurrection, in thanksgiving let us pray to the Lord. Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer. The Celebrant concludes with the following prayer: Heavenly Father, grant these our prayers for Jesus Christ s sake, our only Mediator and Advocate, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen. Confession Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen. Absolution Peace (all stand) Announcements The Peace of the Lord be always with you. And with your spirit. THE HOLY COMMUNION Offertory I Shall Not Want Assad, Brown Sursum Corda The Lord be with you. And with your spirit. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is just and right so to do. It is right, our duty and our joy, always and everywhere to give thanks to you, Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. You bid your faithful people cleanse their hearts, and prepare with joy for the Paschal feast; that, fervent in prayer and in works of mercy, and renewed by your Word and Sacraments, they may come to the fullness of grace which you have prepared for those who love you.

Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with Angels and Archangels and with all the company of heaven, who for ever sing this hymn to proclaim the glory of your Name: Sanctus et Benedictus Karl Digerness The Prayer of Consecration (all kneel) Holy and gracious Father: In your infinite love you made us for yourself; and when we had sinned against you and become subject to evil and death, you, in your mercy, sent your only Son into the world for our salvation. By the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary he became flesh and dwelt among us. In obedience to your will, he stretched out his arms upon the cross and offered himself once for all, that by his suffering and death we might be saved. By his resurrection he broke the bonds of death, trampling Hell and Satan under his feet. As our great high priest, he ascended to your right hand in glory, that we might come with confidence before the throne of grace. On the night that he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread; and when he had given thanks, he broke it,* and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take, eat; this is my Body which is given for you: Do this in remembrance of me. Likewise, after supper, Jesus took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, Drink this, all of you; for this is my Blood of the New Covenant, which is shed for you, and for many, for the forgiveness of sins: Whenever you drink it, do this in remembrance of me. Therefore we proclaim the mystery of faith: Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again. We celebrate the memorial of our redemption, O Father, in this sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving, and we offer you these gifts.

Sanctify them by your Word and Holy Spirit to be for your people the Body and Blood of your Son Jesus Christ. Sanctify us also, that we may worthily receive this holy sacrament, and be made one body with him, so that he may dwell in us and we in him. And bring us with all your saints into the fullness of your heavenly kingdom, where we shall see our Lord face to face. All this we ask through your Son Jesus Christ: By him, and with him, and in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honor and glory is yours, Almighty Father, now and forever. Amen. The Lord s Prayer BCP p. 336 Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen. The Fraction Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us Therefore let us keep the feast. Prayer of Humble Access We do not presume to come to this, your table, O merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness, but in your abundant and great mercies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under your table. But you are the same Lord, who always delights in showing mercy. Grant us, therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh of your dear Son Jesus Christ and to drink his blood, that our sinful bodies may be made clean by his body, and our souls washed through his most precious blood, and that we may evermore dwell in him, and he in us. Amen. Communion All baptized Christians who profess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior are welcome to receive Holy Communion in this church. All who do not wish to receive are still welcome to come forward to the altar rail. You may cross your arms across your chest as an indication you do not wish to receive, and a prayer of blessing will be offered for you instead. Gluten-free wafers are available. If you would like to receive a gluten-free wafer, simply ask the priest when he comes to you at the communion rail. Additional prayer is offered by our Altarside Prayer Team on either side of the altar, if you are in need of specific prayer, they would be happy to pray with you after you have received communion.
