CHURCH GENERAL CLEANING Come one, come all. We need and want you! There will be a CHURCH CLEAN-UP on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 after the 9:00am Mass. Something for everyone, if the day is nice we need outside work done, so if you like to rake and sweep, there is something for you. Inside work to be done dusting, vacuuming, polishing brass and silver, cleaning and waxing pews. Just bring a bucket, vacuum cleaner or whatever tools you think you might need and we will supply the cleaning products. Let s be proud of St. Joseph s and make it ready for Easter. Annual Golden Wedding Mass Celebration Couples celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary anytime during 2017 are invited to attend the Annual Golden Jubilee Mass with Cardinal Dolan at the Cathedral of St Patrick, Sunday, June 11 th at 2PM. HOLY THURSDAY APRIL 13, 2017 PILGRIM VISITS TO SEVEN CATHOLIC CHURCHES IN ULSTER COUNTY A recommended practice for Lent is to go on a pilgrimage. A Pilgrim Pamphlet Guide will be made available on the Fifth Sunday of Lent and Palm Sunday for those who wish to participate in the venerable custom of visiting seven churches on Maundy (Holy) Thursday, April 13, 2017. The evening Mass time at each church, location of Altar of Repose, and closing time are listed in the pamphlet. Also included in the pamphlet are Pope Francis intentions for April, and suggested verses to be prayed at each stop. Participants in the pilgrimage normally set out after attending the evening Mass of The Lord s Supper at their home parish; they continue on the self-directed pilgrimage to visit six more decorated Altars of Repose. Note that a Pilgrim Guide for visits to churches in Dutchess County is also available this year. Monday, April 10, 2017 is Reconciliation Monday Once again, the Archdiocese of New York is joining the Dioceses of Brooklyn and the Diocese of Rockville Center in offering the Sacrament in all parishes. Confessions at St. Joseph s will start after Novena & from 3pm to 9pm. We encouraged all Catholics to take advantage of this wonderful sacrament of Christ's forgiveness. DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY The Catholic Church has declared the first Sunday after Easter as Divine Mercy Sunday. The Church has added a plenary indulgence to it. A plenary indulgence is the complete remission of sin and punishment. To obtain this indulgence one has to go to confession, receive Holy Communion and recite some prayers for the intention of the Pope. Come join us this Sunday, April 23, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. for the Divine Mercy service at St. Joseph's Church. There will be the blessing of the Divine Mercy Picture, Divine Mercy Chaplet sung by Fr. Consoling the Heart of Jesus Parish Retreat The second retreat of Fr. Michael Gaitley s Hearts Afire Parish-based Program is coming up, beginning April 20th! All are welcome to participate in this upcoming retreat. WHAT: We will work out of the book, Consoling the Heart of Jesus, which helps us to accept His love and to trust in Him completely. We will examine various Saints devotions and writings. We will also focus on what to do with the suffering we all encounter, helping us to grow spiritually closer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. WHEN: The Consoling the Heart of Jesus retreat consists of 10 weekly meetings between: April 20 June 22, ending in the week of Corpus Christi. The meetings will again be held on Thursdays, and choice of meeting times is either 9am or 7pm. HOW: Sign-up is necessary and will be open until April 4.
