Level 2 Islamic Studies & Duas 1. Kitabs: Name of Book Subject 1 Safar Year 1 Islamic Studies Workbook and textbook Aqāid, Fiqh, Sīrah & Tahdhīb 2 Easy Steps to the Quran Part 6 Quran lesson only Language 3 Memorising & Understanding Short Surahs Quran lesson only - 4 My Prophet s Prayers - Safar Islamic Studies: 1. Refer to the Notes on Islamic Studies section of the syllabus. 2. The guidance mentioned is important and teachers are to implement these guidelines when covering this Kitab. 3. At the start of the year, determine the reading abilities of the pupils. Pupils in Level 2 are very likely to have limited reading skills due to their age. This is very important to bear in mind. 4. To counter the fact that the reading ability may be very limited, the whiteboard etc needs to be used to its full potential. However, formal learning covering of the Kitab - must take place at all times. 5. This book will be covered for 5 days a week. 6. Refer to the schemes of work for the Safar book. This must be incorporated into the teaching in a selective manner, where the teacher does not fall behind in the syllabus as per the guidance given in the LTP. Please see the deputy-head regarding this if unsure. 7. Exercises: These must be completed in class and not set as homework as much as possible. Refer to the Notes on Islamic Studies section of the syllabus for guidance on marking.

Enrichment Activity: This is the section of the syllabus where pupils will practically implement at the least one of the lessons from the personal development section of the book or anything else that may have been covered in class. The objective is to promote Ilm 2 Amal, where knowledge is brought to practice. Some practical lessons that the teacher can carry out are: Activity 1 Saying Salam 2 3 Tidy Classroom Tidy the Bedroom 4 Sadaqah 5 Personalised Prayer Beads Lesson in Safar Saying Salam Classroom Rules Classroom Rules Zakah & Sadaqah Alif to Yaa Reminders Notes Set a task for the children to make Salam to 5 Muslims everyday. Set a task for all children to tidy their classroom. This can be made a weekly task. The above can also be extended to tidying up the bedroom. Children carry out any one or more of the acts of Sadaqah mentioned. Pupils to make a prayer bead with their initials. The teacher may decide to do another practical lesson. Please check with the deputy-head first. The teacher must carry out at least one practical lesson / enrichment activity in the year.

2. Practical Salaah: Wudhu: 1. Emphasise Wudhu in a manner that children understand it is obligatory (a) before touching the Quran and (b) before performing Salaah. 2. Pupils must be confident with the method of Wudhu Refer to pages 56 & 57 of Safar Year 1 Islamic Studies. Salah: 1. Pupils must learn the names of the 5 daily Salah. 3. Pupils must be confident with the actions of a two Rak ah Salah; Standing, sitting and doing Ruku / Sajdah correctly need to be emphasised. 4. Pupils must use the relevant Takbeeratul Intiqaal at the correct times. 5. Pupils must be confident with recalling the Arabic names of the different postures of Salah. For example, Sajdah, Qawmah etc. Refer to pages 60 to 63 of Safar Year 1 Islamic Studies. 2. Have role plays of children performing Salaah. 3. Emphasis on not rushing Salah and ensuring Ta deelul Arkaan takes place, especially in Ruku, Qawmah, Sajdah and Jalsah. 4. Emphasis on reciting the Duas of all postures slowly, to assist Ta deelul Arkaan.

3. Duas: First revise the Duas from Reception and Level 1 as per the LTP. The following new Duas need to be covered in Level 2: Name of Dua 1 Entering the Toilet 2 Leaving the Toilet 3 Before Starting Wudhu 4 During Wudhu 5 After Wudhu 6 Takbeer of Salah 7 Tasbeeh of Ruku 8 When Standing up from Ruku 9 Dua of Qawmah 10 Tasbeeh of Sajdah 11 Dua of Jalsah 12 Salam to End Salah 13 Kalimah Tamjeed Notes: Refer to the Notes on Duas section at the front of My Prophet s Prayers. The guidance mentioned is important and teachers are to implement these guidelines.
