Every year we put months of planning into this but we know things happen. So while we try to stick with our schedule, we also know that we have to make adjustments as needed. Deposits: We will ask for a $50 non-refundable deposit by April 1st. This helps us plan for how many are coming with ordering food, supplies, and T-shirts. What does your price cover? This covers the entire week of Mission Blitz. (Waterpark, Shirt, Food) Each day students will have breakfast at the church and make a bag lunch for the mission project sites. Dinner will be hot meals served at the church. All participants receive a shirt. Waterpark We will be visiting a waterpark in the middle of the week. We ask students to wear (a) One piece bathing suits (b) Modest tankini. This is included in the price and will not be extra. However, if students want to bring spending money for extra food or drink that will be up to them.
What is worship like? High energy worship with a live band and a dynamic speaker that will challenge students where they are. What kind of projects will we be working on? This is a difficult question to answer because every year it is different. We have worked with Citrus County Food Bank, Salvation Army of Ocala, Habitat for Humanity Crystal River, Habitat for Humanity Inverness, The Path (Homeless ministry and farm), Faith Haven, The Sanctuary (another Homeless Ministry), Covenant Children s Home, Senior Adult Homes, 3 different nursing homes, and several other churches in the area. There is a lot of lawn care and hard labor. These are projects Middle School and High School Students can do. We have had 11 year olds all the way up to 73 year olds do these projects. Be flexible. Every year we put months of planning into this but we know things happen. So while we try to stick with our schedule, we also know that we have to make adjustments as needed. How are groups put together? We try to mix churches together. We put them together by age, project, ability, and a lot of prayer. We ask if there are any accommodations that need to be made to please let us know on the spreadsheet that will be emailed ahead of time. Adult help: Please make sure all adults are screened with background checks before you come. This protects all of our kids and their well being. Also, please make sure your adults have a great attitude because stinky attitudes are contagious like moldy bread. We will do our best to serve and make this the best week ever. We need everyone s help to make that happen. Rooming: Our girls will stay in our children s wing. Each church we will try to keep in their own room. The boys will all be together in our gym.
Showers: We will have at least one shower trailer. Lines are sometimes long but everyone will have an opportunity to be clean. Our Theme: This year our theme will be Spirit Games: Catching Fire based off the movie Hunger Games. We will have thematically days based off of the trilogy of Hunger Games movies. Anything else? On our last night we have a special night of celebration. This is where we recognize students and adults for the week. We also encourage them to dress to the theme of the week. Our theme for 2019 is Hunger Games which will be a Hunger Games like theme. We will encourage students to dress up as retro characters and will have games and costume contest.
