United Methodist Church of Antioch Palm Sunday April 14, 2019 8:00 and 10:30 am GATHERING The mission of the United Methodist Church of Antioch is to grow in faith; to worship God following the teachings of Jesus Christ, and to be instruments of God s love through the Holy Spirit as we reach out to our community and the world. PRELUDE ANNOUNCEMENTS/MISSION STATEMENT MATTHEW 21: 1-11 *SONG OF GATHERING # 278 Hosanna, Loud Hosanna *WE ARE WELCOMED TO WORSHIP L: Jesus is coming! He s coming today! P: Hosanna! Hosanna! Hooray! Hooray! L: He s coming to bless us, to teach us God s way. P: Hosanna! God save us! Hosanna! Hooray! *WE SHARE IN PRAYER As crowds of people welcomed Jesus when he rode into Jerusalem, acclaiming him as their ruler, so we welcome you, God, Creator, Christ, and Spirit. Above all human powers and dominions, you lay rightful claim to our praise, our love, and our obedience. Therefore we have come to worship you and to hear your word. We love you, God, and we pray that we, with all people, might do your will on earth. L: Hear us as we pray together the prayer of our Savior. THE LORD S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. CHILDREN S TIME HYMN # 2070 He Is Exalted

Isaiah 43:18 I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. New every day is your love Almighty God, bringing us life and hope for the future. We pray that your Holy Spirit would remove the barriers, break down the walls, and heal any divisions that would keep us from loving and serving as Jesus taught us. Reawaken our senses, open our imaginations, and increase our understanding so that we might use our gifts freely and wisely for the common good of all and to advance the gospel of grace in our church and community.
