The editor is the former LHM speaker Wallace Schultz. There are several editions available in the pastor s study/office for anyone who would like to review a topic or use one for a personal Bible study. Wednesday morning Ladies Bible Study at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 28th started the Joy Bible Study. Women spend a lot of their time waiting to be happy; thinking it will be right around the corner. Don t keep waiting. You can start enjoying the blessings of God today when you start noticing the joys hidden in plain sight. Books are $8.00. The books help follow along with the study, but are not required. Please let Kristin Myher know if you would like a book. If evenings are better, join us at the Cottage Meetings the last Friday of the month at 7 p.m. hosted at a members home. February will be hosted by the Myhers Pastor Snider s Sunday Adult Bible Study will be stepping us through the book of Isaiah. Join us for this insightful study of this important work of this prophet. We hope to see all of you at one or more of these Bible Studies. Glad Tidings Christian Education News 99 Days left until VBS!! This year we will Tell It on The Mountain at Vacation Bible School. We will explore 5 great Bible stories that all take place on top of mountains! Mark your calendars for July 8th-12th. We will have our first planning meeting on April 9th at 7:00 PM. Please plan to attend if you will be able to help with VBS this year. I ll need lots of volunteers the week of VBS and also planning before, so if you aren t available that week, not a problem! It pretty much takes all of Trinity to pull VBS off so please let me know how you d like to help! The board of Education had our quarterly meeting on January 16th. Our next meeting is scheduled for April 15th at 7:00 PM. Please plan to come if you have any ideas or input for us. We d really appreciate your thoughts. Don t miss the cottage meeting Friday, April 26th at 7:00 pm hosted by Joanna and Dan Krueger. Our March Cottage meeting had 22 attendees. A big thank you to those who came and took part in our study! I can t believe it as I look out the window and see the snow flying, but summer Sunday School is approaching. We only have 9 more weeks of regular Sunday School. If you d like to help by teaching a week or two this summer, please let me know. We like to give our regular Sunday School teachers a little break. They work hard all year long to teach the children and youth of Trinity. Our Sunday School still has a few needs, if you would be able to provide any of these, we would be grateful! PAGE 2 GLAD TIDINGS VOLUME 4 ISSUE 4 Pastor s Page How to behave in Church by Tim Hetzner, President of Lutheran Church Charities March 21, 2013 if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God's household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth. 1 Timothy 3:15 The church is like a garden; it has great potential for growth and beauty. But cultivating a garden calls for time and labor; it also requires being on the lookout for weeds and pulling them up before they grow and kill your plants. Two of the most common weeds in the church are: 1) Favoritism. Then Peter began to speak: I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts men from every nation who fear him and do what is right. You know the message God sent to the people of Israel (Acts 10:34-36). Peter, who struggled with prejudice, said, I now realize that God does not show favoritism. How about you? Do you realize that too? Or do you mix only with your own kind? Cliques in church are high treason to the King of Kings. If there s one lonely soul in your church, you have work to do! The Bible says that God gives families to the lonely (Psalm 68:6). When people are shy, wounded, insecure or lacking in trust, you must reach out and bring them into your circle of fellowship. 2) Gossip. Don t speak evil against each other, dear brothers and sisters (James 4:11). When you hear gossip about someone, stop it dead in its tracks. Unless you are willing to talk directly to the person, don t talk about them. And don t let anybody else talk about them either. Gossip is the art of saying nothing, and leaving nothing unsaid. If you want to promote harmony in the family, don t indulge in it. Comments by Pastor Snider: There are so many ways that we can be distracted from a meaningful worship with the Lord. Some people feel that a nursery is key to less distractions and others feel that proper dress is important to decrease the distractions from a I now realize that God does not show favoritism. How about you? proper worship. I notice cell phones and texting devices much more than a crying child. Those mentioned by Paul in 1 Timothy 3 or by Tim Hetzner are some of the obvious. How to behave in Church can be summed up with respect for a loving God who sent his only Son to abide with each of us. To sit and console us regarding our call to serve and the struggles that we have or that we can share with others with special needs. Bless the visitor who is lonesome even in our midst, to be their best friend if only for a few minutes. Page-o -Blessings This is a page that recognizes persons of our congregation who have blessed Trinity with their actions. If there is someone you would like to recognize for the blessings they ve shown, please print their name and the blessing on the slip of paper and put it in the envelope provided on the bulletin board in the Narthex. We have so many blessings around us that we can thank God for. Blessing: Barb Yek for all the help with Soup Suppers Blessing: Everyone who contributed to the soup suppers. PAGE 4 GLAD TIDINGS VOLUME 4 ISSUE 4 Crafts for Kids from the Editor. While browsing the internet for information on an article, I came across this site that looked very interesting. I know a lot of you will have little ones home this week or Grandparents may be taking spring break time to spend time with their grandchildren. There were many, easy to do affordable crafts that would be a great way to pass time and provide many opportunites to talk about God and Jesus. Check it out! http://www.truthforkids.com/crafts-forbible-lessons/ Music Notes This writing is happening before the Easter services but we are in for a treat, Trumpet, trombone and flute, possibly another instrument is expected to add their talent to our music program. It s so nice to see our music department expand and so many young people participating also. Two weeks ago we dedicated two music books, one for the organ and one for Guitar and the summer will be a time for finding music to suit, practicing and trying things out. It s very exciting. From the Trustees The trustees meeting will be changed to Saturday, April 13 at 8:00 am this month to rake stones back onto the Driveway. Please bring rakes. Anyone else that would like to help it would be appreciated. Happy Birthday!!
