GREETINGS FROM YOUR SUNDAY SCHOOL DIRECTOR Have you ever heard the words to the great old hymn "Count Your Blessings"? When upon life's billows you are tempest tossed, When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost, Count your many blessings, name them one by one, And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done. There's wisdom for all of us in that old song. Sometimes when we focus on our problems, we lose sight of the good things in our lives. It's as though we're under a gigantic cloud that blocks out the sun. We get irritable and depressed and, worst of all, we lose all perspective. That's when it's time to review all the reasons God has given us for rejoicing. As we begin a New Year, let s reflect on what God has done for us as individuals and as a Church. We have been so blessed in 2012. We don t know what 2013 will bring for us but we do know that God will be with us because: * God loves you. * Jesus died for your sins. * You'll spend eternity in heaven with Christ. * You're part of God's family, with brothers and sisters who love you. * God has promised never to abandon you. Keep going--thinking of more things--and the cloud will keep lifting. What are some unique, specific ways God has blessed your life? I pray that each of you will have a Wonderful New Year! Jean
1/3 Soles4Souls Shoe Delivery - The children will be taking a trip to Alabama! Yes, I did say Alabama. We will be loading up the shoes that have been collected during the month of December for Soles4Souls into the mini-van and drop them off at the distribution center in Alabama. On our way home, we will stop for lunch. Meet at the church at 10:00 a.m. for departure. This is a great ministry opportunity for us. Won t you come and help? MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES NOW IN PROGRESS Soles 4 Souls: We collected 269 pairs of shoes!!! The Children s Department will be delivering the shoes to an Alabama collection center on Thursday, January 3rd. Praise the Lord!! We re providing much needed witnessing opportunities to people in need. Operation Overcoat: During the cold winter months, it is again time to start getting out the jackets, coats, gloves, stocking hats, socks and any other warm clothing we no longer wear and donate them to the OPERATION OVERCOAT collection drive. When you look between December 30 th and January 6 th, you will find a collection box in the Welcome Center to drop off those no longer needed warm clothing items. Again, let s use those warm clothing items in your closet to create witnessing opportunities as we share God s Love and are obedient to God s leadership in our lives by reaching out to those in need. Christmas Card Fronts for Fayette Head Start: Remember when you are taking down your Christmas decorations after Christmas, a basket will be in the Welcome Center from December 30 th until January 13 th for you to drop off your Christmas Card fronts. These card fronts will be used to help Fayette County children in their creative development during their art classes. MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES COMING UP In February School Staff Appreciation Day when we will honor all of the school staff at Minter Elementary, Whitewater Middle and Whitewater High Schools. Guidelines for the Bereavement Meals Committee The purpose of the Bereavement Committee is to minister to the grieving church families, where a church member, or a person living in a church member's household has passed away. We organize members to prepare and serve a meal for the grieving family and their close friends. This is normally done on the day of the funeral or memorial service depending on the desires of the family. In other bereavement situations where a church family needs a meal, the committee chairman will contact Sunday School classes and the family deacon to organize a meal as needed. Respectfully submitted for your information, Bereavement Meals Committee
