oliday Baptist Church ill May 2016 Newsletter Missions Sunday Come learn how our church is seeking to communicate the love of Christ through mission efforts. Display tables will be set up in the lobby before small groups and prior to and after worship service. The 65th annual National Day of Prayer, May 5, 2016, will have profound significance for our country. It is an unprecedented opportunity to see the Lord s healing and renewing power made manifest as we call on citizens to humbly come before His throne. The theme for 2016 is Wake Up America, emphasizing the need for individuals, corporately and individually, to return to the God of Fathers in reverence for His Holy Name. To further highlight our theme, we ve chosen Isaiah 58:1a as our Scripture for this year: Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet. Coffee, juice, and snacks will be provided. Dinner Theater Sunday, May 15 6:00 pm This is a fundraiser for our youth in our quest to get to New Orleans (and back) this summer. I look forward to how He will call us and move us deeper into missions. May 1 st is Missions Sunday. Before small groups, and prior to and after worship service, tables will be set up in the lobby displaying our various endeavors as a church. Tables will be manned by our folks to talk about Haiti, community missions, the Gideon ministry, Women s Missions and Ministry, and Holiday Hill Elementary School. Those same leaders will be discussing those ministries in our worship service. You re going to want to be part of this day. Mother s Day is May 8 th and annually we participate in an offering for the Florida Baptist Children s Home. Part of our responsibility as followers of Christ is to help the helpless, who are often children in orphan and foster care. The Florida Baptist Children s Home does an excellent job in this ministry and you can feel comfortable in supporting their ministry. Our students are headed to New Orleans in June for Mission Lab, an experience dedicated to worship, Bible study, and serving others. May 15 th is a Dinner Theater whose purpose is to raise money for the trip. Please purchase tickets and join us for a great evening together. Every time you and I give to the general ministry of our church we participate in missions. As Southern Baptists we partner with other like-minded churches to support missions through a ministry called The Cooperative Program. Seven percent of our general receipts goes to mission s ministry in Florida and around the world. We also partner with other churches in our city and region as part of the Jacksonville Baptist Association to communicate the love of Christ, and give three percent of our general budget receipts toward such efforts. Missions is a core part of who we are as followers of Christ at Holiday Hill. Thank you for making missions possible, and thank you for being on mission. I look forward to how you and I will move deeper into missions during May and moving forward. In Christ, Albert Pastor Albert
