Sermon Corner This Week s Message: That Day and Hour No one knows that day or time. The recent passing of a young man reminds us that not only do we not know when Christ will return for His church, we don t know when we will die and face Him. Scripture: Matthew 24:36-44 Next Week s Message: The Parable of the Weeds Who plants the good and bad seed in the field of our lives? What about the good and bad seeds in the world? How shall we treat the good and the bad in our lives? Scripture: Matthew 13:24-30 Rev. Ray writes a devotional thought Monday through - Friday each week. A Note from our Youth Leader! Think for a moment, what it would be like to own only the clothes on your back, to not have warm clothes in the winter or cool clothes during the summer. For some of us this has never been an issue, and for others it has been our reality. Then God leads you to a giving, caring church with a clothing pantry and you are able to help yourself. Maybe it is an appropriate outfit to wear for a job interview or clothing for your children who have outgrown what they have. Wouldn t you walk away feeling God s love, feeling a tremendous weight off of your shoulders? This is what our Youth are working to provide here at First Church. It has already been of service. In order to finish the set-up there are a few items still needed. As the Youth make plans to finish the Lending Pantry, please consider donating the following items Plastic Bins which can be purchased at Target for around $6.34 including tax (Item # 002-02-0351 or UPC: 073149165985) A total of 30 are needed. Shelving Unit which can be purchased at SAMS Club for about $212.00 including tax (Item # 403389 Model # GARS774XEG) it is a Gladiator 77 inch, 4 shelf set. Items can be purchased and dropped off in the Narthex or a donation can be made to the FUMY Pantry Project. Also Russ is looking for a volunteer to assist with Jr. and Sr. high school VBS. Email him directly at youth.director@fumcl.org. I was naked and you clothed me - Matthew 25:36A Page 4

Together we are stronger. There is so much we can accomplish when we come together in Christ s name. So, consider ways in which you would like to get connected with your church family and with our community. Watch this section for ways to get connected! How about...can you Invite a neighbor, friend, co-worker, family member to join you for movie night on June 22? Details available soon! Reach out to a neighbor in need? Can you support the Relay for Life team? (see Bev Raynor) Help organize a blood drive? Help with Support the Troops? Can you sew? Can you bake? Can you provide Canned Fruit (all kinds), Mosquito Spray (with Deet) or Disposable Razors for the Day Resource Center in Jessup? (you can bring the supplies to church and we ll make sure they are delivered). Be a part of our amazing VBS (vacation bible school) program? Form a team (at church, at work, in your neighborhood, in your family?) to prepare and serve a hot meal for 60 people on the 2 nd Monday of each month (3:45-6pm)? The Day Resource Center in Jessup is seeking volunteers to join in their outreach for the homeless in our community. Please contact susan@grassrootscrisis.org for more information. Nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something! Interested? For more information on these and other possible ways to get connected at First Church, please see Debbi Schneider or email ( com@fumcl.org or deborahjschneider@yahoo.com). Together, with Christ, we can accomplish amazing things! Page 5
