*The Trustee meeting has been rescheduled to Tuesday, September 22 nd at 7:00 PM. ANOUNCEMENTS CHILDREN S COLLECTIONS: This week our children s collection will be for the Shop with a Cop program. Our area Shop with a Cop program is coordinated every year by Trooper Steven Limani, community service officer with the Pennsylvania State Police at Greensburg. Shop with a Cop pairs children with police officers for a shopping spree, with each child being given a designated amount of money to purchase Christmas gifts. Children who take part in the program are recommended, usually by police officers, because they have been involved in difficult or tragic circumstances. This program gives the kids a chance to see the police officers in a different light in a more positive way. The program is made possible through fundraising efforts, donations and community contributions. 100% of all contributions to Shop with a Cop are used to purchase gifts for the children. You can read about the 2014 Shop with a Cop program in the following articles from the Tribune Review : http://triblive.com/neighborhoods/yourscottdale/7367796-74/police-mart-pleasant#ixzz3iha8ozmf http://triblive.com/news/westmoreland/7366111-74/police-shop-state#ixzz3ihvp9adz Shop with a Cop 8/30 - $258.00 FELLOWSHIP NIGHT RETURNS! Please remember that when you receive your clearances the office staff needs to see the original and make a copy. We cannot just accept a copy of the form, we need to see the original. From the Finance Committee...Do you ever eat at Bob Evans in North Huntingdon? Plan on going "Down on the Farm" for breakfast, lunch or dinner (7 AM - 9 PM) on any of the four Fridays in September and help out your church! Fifteen percent of the total sale of your receipt will go back to First UM. Tell your friends and family so we can have a better profit and enjoy dining out together! Remember...You must have the flyer with you when you pay the cashier. Each Sunday flyers will be printed and available on a table in the narthex. You can also make copies of the flyer which will be in your September newsletter. Questions...contact Laurie Saporito, Chair of Finance at 724-864-5649 or cts72@hotmail.com RADA Cutlery is back!!! New Catalogs and order forms are on a table in the narthex. Completed order forms and checks (payable to First UM) can be placed in the office door slot. Please return your catalog to the table so we can recycle them! The last day to place an order is Sunday, November 1st. Questions...contact Laurie Saporito at 724-864-5649 or cts72@hotmail.com ******************** Coming soon...a time to share your talents! Once again, during our stewardship campaign we will be encouraging members to take "seed money" from the chancel rail and use your gifts and talents to make that money grow! On Sunday, November 8th, our campaign focus is "Love your Church". What a great way to give back to your church by using the gifts that God has given you! If you plan on making something and selling it, there will be tables set up off the narthex on December 8th. I'd love to hear from some of you that really multiplied your money last year...how did you do it? E-mail me so I can tell others! Start thinking about the gifts you've been given, and how you can use them! Questions...contact Laurie Saporito at cts72@hotmail.com or any Finance Committee member. ******************** DARTBALL: The start of the 2015/2016 Dartball season will be on Monday, September 14th. We play on Monday evenings thru the fall and winter months at various churches in the area. All boys and men, 12 years old and up, are welcome to join in a great evening of fun and fellowship (cake, cookies and drinks included.) If you would like to join us, call Alan Painter at 724-446-0224 or speak with any current Dartball member. HELPING OUR HOMEBOUND MEMBERS: Some of our members are homebound. They are healthy enough to get out and about but are no longer able to drive. From time to time the office gets a request from the families of these individuals for help in bringing them to church. If you are able and willing to occasionally provide a ride for one of our homebound members, please let Pastor David or the church office know. It would mean a lot to these individuals to be able to continue to worship and fellowship with their FUMC family.
