Arlington Baptist School FACTS & INFORMATION It is our desire to minister to the needs of our students by promoting their spiritual and moral growth, their academic and intellectual progress, and their physical and social development (Luke 2:52). Our main goal is clearly stated in our school verse: But grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18). Why a Christian Education? We believe a Christian education is important because all knowledge comes from God. In whom (Christ) are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Colossians 2:3). For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of His mouth cometh knowledge and understanding (Proverbs 2:6). A child cannot be truly educated without God and the Bible. We believe a Christian education is important to learn a Christian philosophy of life. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ (Colossians 2:8). Children need to learn a Christian philosophy of life and living. We believe a Christian education is important because Christians are commanded to learn God s Word. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children (Deuteronomy 6:6-7a). General Information Arlington Baptist School came into existence in 1969 as an educational ministry of Arlington Baptist Church. Students enrolled at Arlington are given a quality Christian educational experience, where Christ-likeness is the goal of instruction and the Bible is at the heart of every curriculum. There are over 1,300 Arlington alumni, many of whom are serving the Lord, throughout the world. Mission Statement Through rigorous academics and Biblical curriculum, Arlington Baptist School, a ministry of Arlington Baptist Church, guides students to pursue a Christian worldview, a passion for life-long learning, and a successful career. Educational Philosophy The development of Christian values and character is fundamental to education. Academic excellence is worth the diligent investment and should be the goal of our students. Students must be equipped for future educational and professional success. Parents are critical participants in the education of their children. www.arlingtonbaptistschool.org eagles@arlingtonbaptist.org Revised: February 2019 Page 1

Students must connect classroom experiences and knowledge to real world situations. Differentiation is essential to meeting our students individual needs. A strong foundation of academic knowledge, effective study habits, and organizational proficiency is fundamental to education. Accreditation Arlington Baptist School is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, one of the seven regional accrediting associations in America. Academics Class size is generally limited to 20 students in the elementary school and 24 students in the middle and high schools. Exceptions may be made only upon approval of the administration. In addition to the core curriculum of the three R s, students in the elementary school generally take Bible, art, computer, music, band, Spanish, and physical education. Kindergarten students are taught to read as part of their academic program. Some of the course offerings in the high school include pre-calculus, advanced biology, physics, chemistry, speech, computer, yearbook, Spanish, art, choir, and band. Arlington offers both a college prep diploma and a general diploma. Most Arlington students attend college after graduation. Qualified high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors may be elected into the National Honor Society. Each spring, students in grades K5-9 take the Stanford Achievement Test. School is in session Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m. Extended Day School is available for an additional fee, both before school beginning at 6:30 a.m. and after school until 6:00 p.m. Doctrine Here is what we believe and teach: All Scripture is given by inspiration of God. (2 Timothy 3:16-17) God is eternal in three persons: The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 3:16-17) Jesus Christ is the Son of God and was born of a virgin. (Matthew 1:20-25) Through His substitutionary atonement, Jesus Christ died for us so that we might be able to be justified by His blood and saved from the wrath to come. (Romans 5:8-9) Only those who have received the Lord Jesus Christ by faith as personal Savior are the children of God. (John 1:12) Man, made in the image of God, fell because of unbelief and became separated from God, is dead in trespasses and sin, and cannot enter the kingdom of God, unless born from above. (Romans 5:12) The true church is made up of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the Head. (Ephesians 2:20-22) All believers are baptized by the Holy Spirit into this one true body and are set apart to a holy walk. (1 Corinthians 1:30-31, 12:13) www.arlingtonbaptistschool.org eagles@arlingtonbaptist.org Revised: February 2019 Page 2

All true believers, having been born again into the family of God, are possessors of everlasting life, will never perish, and are eternally secure in Him. (John 10:28-29; 1 Peter 1:23) Immersion is the Scriptural method of baptism and is for believers only. (Acts 8:36-38) The Lord s Supper is a commemoration of His death and is to be celebrated at certain intervals until He comes. (Luke 22:17-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26) Christ s return is imminent, pre-millennial, and personal. (Matthew 24:44; Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 3:11) As children of the Lord, we will endeavor, by God s grace, to live a consistent Christian life and to refrain from those things which would dishonor our Lord, and thereby discredit our Christian testimony. (Colossians 3:1-17) Faculty Arlington s faculty consists of more than 20 professionally trained, dedicated Christian individuals from diverse backgrounds who have graduated from various Christian colleges and secular universities. Several faculty members have earned advanced degrees; others are continuing their education in order to obtain advanced degrees. To encourage excellent classroom performance, the faculty attends professional workshops and conferences yearly. Arlington s faculty is well equipped to train your child in a competent, Christian manner. Facilities Arlington is conveniently located on an attractive 17-acre campus in Baltimore County, just west of Baltimore s Beltway (I-695). The school uses two main buildings on the campus the elementary school building for grades K3 through 6 th and the high school building for grades 7 th through 12 th. Each building houses a library, a gymnasium, a cafeteria, a computer lab, and an art room. The facilities also include two high school science labs, music rooms, and numerous classrooms for teaching academic subjects. A small auditorium is used for school chapel services, and a larger, 800- seat auditorium is available for school concerts, programs, and graduation. Well-maintained baseball, softball, and soccer fields are available for PE classes and scheduled athletic games. The younger students enjoy recess on a large, fenced-in playground. Sports Students in grades 5-12 may participate in soccer, volleyball, basketball, and baseball. Sports offered will be determined by student interest. Competitions include invitation, regional, and state tournaments. Arlington s athletic facilities include two gymnasiums and excellent outdoor playing fields, for hosting home games for various sports teams and our annual invitational basketball tournament each school year. www.arlingtonbaptistschool.org eagles@arlingtonbaptist.org Revised: February 2019 Page 3
