We hear stories of hell being a place of fire, demons, and endless torment. Throughout history, many authors have written about it and even Hollywood has made films about it. Hell is one of those subjects that makes people uncomfortable.. But what does God say about it in His inspired book, the Bible.
see Ephesians 3:9 God, who created all things by Jesus Christ. So God created hell but why did God create hell? The Lord Jesus will say to some sinners in a future day, Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels. (Matthew 25:41) The fulfilment of that will be see in Revelation 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels. While we certainly agree that God is love (1 John 4:8. See also Romans 5:8), He is also holy ( Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. 1Peter 1:16. See also 1 Samuel 2:2) and a just God (Isaiah 45:21. See also Nehemiah 9:32-33, 2 Thessalonians 1:6) Therefore to remain just God must punish the sinner, But I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings, saith the LORD (Jeremiah 21:14. See also Hebrews 2:2). As God is just He will not over or under punish the sinner. For there is not a just man upon earth, that does good, and sins not. (Ecclesiastes 7:20. See also Romans 3:22b-23)
Revelation 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defiles, neither whatsoever works abomination, or makes a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.
God says, And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment. (Hebrews 9:27 See also similar verse Romans 1:32) Once to die means that you will only die once. You will not reincarnated as someone or something else. (See questions about reincarnation at: http://wallingtongospelhall.org/if-reincarnation-istrue-why/) after this means that at death you will not be annihilated, or cease to exist, but you will continue to exist somewhere after you have died. after this the judgment So after your death, and if you have not been forgiven of your sins by God in this life, you will very sadly go to hell.
In Luke 16:19-31 a rich man went to hell because of his unbelief. In v24-25 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that you in your lifetime but now he is comforted, and you are tormented. The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, (Revelation 14v10-11) And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. (Revelation 20:10)
But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping (i.e. wailing) and gnashing of teeth (possibly from regret). (Matthew 8:12) But these speak evil raging waves of the sea, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever. (Jude 1:10, 13) People say that you get light from flames but at night you do not get much light from flames. As God says hell is a place of darkness then it is a place of darkness. Luke 16:25 But Abraham said, Son (the rich man v22), remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and you are tormented. Luke 16:24 And he (the rich man v22) cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. The reply was given in the verse immediately above. Luke 16:27 Then he (the rich man v22) said, I pray you therefore, father, that you would send him (Lazarus v25) to my father's house but his request was not granted. v31 And he (Abraham v30) said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.
In Luke c16 the rich man was not conscious of anyone else in hell. There are no Bible verses which indicate that you ever have company in hell. And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. (Revelation 20:10) The devil is said to be where the beast and false prophet are but not with them. This is just like prisoners who are where other prisoners are but they are still in separate cells.
Luke 16:26 And beside all this, between us (in heaven) and you (in hell) there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence (heaven) to you (in hell) cannot; neither can they pass to us (in heaven), that would come from thence (in hell). The devil is not shovelling people in through hell s entrance but he and his demons will also prisoners in hell. This shows that God is far stronger than the devil. into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels. (Matthew 25:41) And the devil was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. (Revelation 20:10)
You can enjoy the light of the sunshine on earth but there is only darkness in hell. You can have a drink of water on earth but there is no water in hell. On earth there are preachers of God s Gospel (meaning good news and which is on the last slide), but there are no preachers in hell.
At the end of time (2Peter 3:10, 12, Revelation 20:11) the current heavens and earth will totally be gone. There will a great white throne set in space (Revelation 20:11-15). On that throne will be the Lord Jesus Christ as the judge (John 5:22, Acts 17:31). No one will escape because Because he (God v30) has appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness (Acts 17:31). The judged sinners will then be cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:15). After the Great White Throne judgment God will create a new heavens and a new earth, to exist forever, where everything will be right and happy (Revelation 21:1, 3-4, 2Peter 3:13).
The unforgiven dead will come out of hell (Revelation 20:12-13) and stand before God Who will judge them for their sinful works and because they have not trusted in Christ as their Saviour (v13, 15).. The judged sinners will then be cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:15). In the the lake of fire and brimstone they shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever (Revelation 20:10). "Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels. (Matthew 25:41) And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. (Matthew 25:46)
Christ, the Future Judge, can be Your Saviour Today. Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures. (1Corinthians 15:3-4) But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins (Ephesians 2:4-5a). In whom (Christ 1:13) we have through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins. (Colossians 1:14). For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16) Jesus Christ said, Come unto me, all you that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28). And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved (Acts 16:31).
