The Powerful Voice of Jesus
1. Resurrection of the spiritually dead: The voice of the Son of God calls & creates life in the present.
When: From Jesus ministry to Pentecost & in the present age.
What & Why: Jesus will call the spiritually dead so that they will hear His voice & be given eternal life.
How: Jesus has life in Himself just as the Father does.
2. Resurrection of the physically dead: The voice of the Son of Man will call & execute judgment in the future.
Daniel 7:14 I saw in the night visions, and behold with the clouds of heaven there came one like a son of man, and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him. And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed.
When: In the future every dead person will be resurrected for judgment.
1 Corinthians 15:22-24 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ. Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power.
Revelation 20:4-6 Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands.
Revelation 20:4-6 They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and they will reign with him for a thousand years.
1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
First Resurrection: Believers will be resurrected before the Millennium at the coming of Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body whether good or evil.
Second Resurrection: Unbelievers will be resurrected after the Millennium at the Great White Throne Judgment.
What: Works do NOT save but do provide the basis for divine judgment.
Believers will be resurrected unto life based on their good works.
Unbelievers will be resurrected unto judgment based on their evil works.
