MISSIONARY OF THE MONTH Mickel Mascall - Global Delegate from England DCOG has sponsored Rev. Mickel Mascall through our Faith Promise. He will be attending as the global delegate from England at the 2013 Global Gathering in Anderson. Rev Mickel Mascall officially began his pastorate at The Community Church of God, Tottenham, London, immediately after graduating from the West Indies Theological College of Santa Cruz, Trinidad with a bachelor s degree in theology, in 2004. He is currently ministering there, where the membership of the congregation is developing spiritually and growing numerically. Prior to training in his native land, Trinidad Rev. Mascall served in his local congregation as a lay preacher, chairperson of the Church Council, and pastor by virtue of this position in the absence of an ordained pastor for several years. The word of God and prayer are among the strengths of Rev. Mascall s ministry. His keen interest in the truth of God s word and holy living, together with an intense passion for the restoration and revival of God s people are quite evident in his ministry. He is absolutely convinced that God s people are in great need of revival; which shall come only when we adhere fully to the truth of His word and give ourselves to much fervent prayer. We have been asked several times about having a Book Sale, so now we have a dates, June 9th through June 16th. There will be lots of videos, and books for all ages. THANK YOU A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who made the 10 th Annual Candlelight Dinner a success. To Karyn Mitchel, for her encouraging talk, to Becky Cook, for the wonderful meal, to Jen Stump & Crew from Goldie s Goodies for the fabulous desserts, to the MEN for serving us so graciously & to all the ladies who hosted tables. Also to Earl Johnson for donating Pam s jewelry and all of the ladies who bought it we were able to make a donation of $450 to the Adams Wells Crisis Shelter. Also thanks to Angie Foreman, for picking up the loose ends & advertising & selling tickets. All together we got it done & a great time was had by all. Karen Fouts & Deb Mitchel It is during times of great loss that we realize how limiting words can be and how special friends truly are. Thank you for all of your prayers and acts of kindness shown to us in the loss of our son/grandson, Joshua Daniel. The flowers received in Florida were beautiful and will always be remembered. The Van Valkenburg/Brink Families There are openings in our daycare program for children one thru 4th grade. Call Debbie Brink at 724-2589 for more information. Children in the school free or reduced lunch program are eligible for this project. Help alleviate the financial burden of families and help a child gain self-esteem by wearing new clothes on the first day of school. Forms are on the lobby table with instructions. Highlights from May 2013 Elder s Meeting Larry Carty led us in the discussion of the critical questions. We spent time revisiting why we exist, which led us to discuss how we behave. Pastor Brink shared the 2013 staff vacation schedule, the time allowed and time requested. Pastor KC is interested in becoming involved in the SHAPE program which is sponsored by the Church of God. The Elders recommend this program to the Board of Finance and Equipment for their approval. Lew and Mona Simerman have agreed to head up the Connection Ministry. Lew Simerman and Larry Carty have traded Elder assignments. Lew Simerman will assume the role of Evangelism Elder and Larry Carty will assume the role as the Stewardship Elder. Dennis Call stated that we are moving forward on the replacement of the needed air conditioner. Dion Jordan and Matt Coates are replacing carpets. It was noted that we must be aware of any safety issues and resolve them. Especially to make sure the emergency exits are always accessible. A joint meeting with the Board of Building and Grounds, Daycare, Preschool staff, and the custodians is being planned. The relocation of the tellers to the Church Library is in the process. At this point the safe is bought and the lights are in. We have filled a position on the Board of Finance. Kevin Counterman will initially participate on a trial basis. Terri Borne has requested that for internal purposes the Food Pantry will now be referred to as His Pantry. In the month of April 2013, 61 people were served. To enhance communication a joint meeting between the Elders and the Board of Finance and Equipment is being planned. The meeting was adjourned at the altar with a time of prayer.
