1 John 5:13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life. (ESV)

1 John 1:1-2 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life the life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and

Christ Was Before All Time That which was from the beginning concerning the word of life (1:1)
John 1:1-3, 14 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father (ESV)
Colossians 1:15-17 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. (ESV)

Christ Became a Man the life was made manifest, and we have seen it (1:2)

Christ Provides Life We proclaim to you the eternal life (1:2)

Christ Provides Fellowship So that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. (1:3)
Fellowship (koinonia) Used 4x in chapter one. Used over 60x in N.T. Not easily put into English Translated: fellowship, communion, participation, to share a common life, partnership. It s root means common or shared.
Four Aspects of Fellowship Develop a mutual care and concern for one another, and sharing with those in need looking out for the interest of others Long to come together and worship Participating in Christ with one another in communion Have partnership in God s service
Christ Makes Our Joy Complete And we are writing these things so that our joy may be complete (1:4)
Ultimate Happiness Ultimate happiness is found in sharing Christ with others
