THE TESTIMONY OF THE TWO WITNESSES AND THE SEVENTH TRUMPET Revelation 11 INTRODUCTION This is definitely Jewish in its context 1. The Jewish temple NOTE: Then I was given a reed like a measuring rod. And the angel stood, saying, Rise and measure the temple of God, the altar, and those who worship there. But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months. Revelation 11:1-2 NKJV 2. Jerusalem NOTE: And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. Revelation 11:8 KJV 3. The ark NOTE: God s sanctuary in heaven was opened, and the ark of His covenant appeared in His sanctuary. There were flashes of lightning, rumblings of thunder, an earthquake, and severe hail. Revelation 11:19 HCSB This is one of the most difficult and one of the most important chapters in the Revelation. I. THE TWO WITNESSES Revelation 11:1-14 A. The Period Of Their Ministry 1-4 1. When he measured it, he found it was a square, as wide as it was long. In fact, its length and width and height were each 1,400 miles. Then he measured the walls and found them to be 216 feet thick (according to the human standard used by the angel). Revelation 21:15-17 NLT 3. The exclusion vs. 2 a. The outer court is excluded b. Daniel 7:25 KJV NOTE: Then I heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand to heaven, and swore by Him who lives forever, that it shall be for a time, times, and half a time; and when the power of the holy people has been completely shattered, all these things shall be finished.
