PASTOR S JULY ARTICLE BE LIGHT of C&MA General Council The whirlwind week of General Council is now concluded. A new president, Dr. John Stumbo will assume the office beginning August 1 st of this year. Out going President Gary (Betty) Benedict is looking forward to retirement at their home in Grand Rapids, MN. Pray for his wife Betty as she is needing a knee replacement soon. I want to express to you one more time how appreciative I am that the Hibbing Alliance Church commits and encourages it s pastor to attend the C&MA General Council every two years. I come back recharged in my spirit with a deeper appreciation for my call to ministry, our cause of the C&MA to Go and make disciples, and the family community that exists worldwide in the 6 million plus people of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. I have put together and submitted to the church library my reports that I had emailed during the week of Council. Pastor s Page Hibbing Alliance Church 4220 3rd Avenue West Hibbing, MN 55746 Office: 218-262-6685 www.hibbingalliance.org The Hibbing Alliance Church exists to lead people to Christ, enabling them to become fully committed to His purposes. Continued on page 2

I also included Councils agenda booklet, daily newsletter The Banner and some other materials of interest. I will be ordering the DVD messages given by keynote speaker Rev. Samuel Rodriguez for the library as well. They are challeging and powerful and I am sure you will be hearing pieces of them in some of my future sermons. The reports will be in a three ring binder notebook that also includes my reports from the previous two C&MA General Councils of 2011 and 2009. I also purchased the updated book on the history of the C&MA entitled All for Jesus. Once this is cateloged it will be available to check out and read. Other resources I returned with: Big Ideas DVD of Alliance Core Values produced for Kids; How to Conduct a Successful Kids Missions Festival from A to Z From building a team to creative ideas this resource is simple and practical; Missions Power Tools for Children from A to Z This resource booklet gives practical and applicable ideas on how to recruit kids to pray for missions; Dreamng for More This book is designed to enable families to Partner with parents to equip them as spiritual leaders in their homes Motivate children and teens to step out of their comfort zones and into a lifetime of faith Create intentional space for the kids in our care to meet Jesus; First Steps A small book written by Mike Barnes. It is material taken from his new believers / pre-christians class. A very weel designed, attractive and readable book that can be used as class or small group material. My hope is to bring to all of you some of the same insights and challenges that I received so that together we can Be Light as we lead people to Christ, enabling them to become fully commited to His purposes. Pastor Kevin

NEW NEWS!!! Are you ready for some breaking NEWS? This just out: It appears that it s official. At 9:01 A.M. today June 1, 2013, the AWM National Executive Team made an astonishing announcement! According to our sources on the ground, Edna Mapstone, National Director, just announced that Alliance Women Mninistries will now be known as GREAT COMMISSION WOMEN. The room went wild with excitement! A new name! A new look! A new direction! The groundwork for this new initiative stems from Matthew 28:18-20 (NLT) where we read, Jesus came and told his disciples, I have been given complete authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the ages. Jesus last words our first priority! We are to go everywhere - next door, the supermarket, the spa, the gym, the church or even across the ocean and make disciples - teaching them to obey His commands. What a privilege! And, we are not alone on this journey - we have Jesus and the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives leading us to fulfill the Great Commission. Speaking of direction - here are a few important things to know - our mission, our core values and our goals. The new mission statement reads: GREAT COMMISSION WOMEN, an auxiliary ministry of The Christian and Missionary Alliance, exists to glorify God as devoted Christ followers of all generations, empowered by the Holy Spirity to live the Word, to do the work and reach the world. How neat is that? Are you ready for some more news? We are stepping up with new challenging core values too. Our core values statement reads: The 7 core values of GREAT COMMISSION WOMEN shall be active commitment to Effective Fervent Prayer Immersion in the Word Intentional Spiritual Formation Spirit Led Giving Faith Filled Risks Heart for Reaching the Lost Spiritual Heritage Emergence (Cont.)

Please take note of those two little words: Active Commitment. It s the active pursuit of God in our daily lives so that we are empowered to do the work and reach the world. We will be sharing more about each one of these core values in the days ahead. Focusing our efforts to align with the core values propels us forward to achieve the new goals. But wait, what exactly is a goal? Webster defines a goal as the end toward which effort is directed. Aim! I m reminded of the old adage; if you aim at nothing you ll hit every time! GREAT COMMISSION WOMEN will be on the move as we aim at three achievable, measurable goals: 1. To enlist every fully devoted Christ follower of all generations in effective fervent prayer. 2. To encourage Christ followers to seek an intimate relationship with Him through intentional spiritual formation. 3. To engage in reaching the lost. Okay, there you have it! The new news! As we start this new journey as GREAT COMMISSION WOMEN we trust we ve heard from the Lord. It was not an easy or quick decision. The National Executive Team spent hours in prayer, deliberation, and evaluation using the SWOT Analysis and the APA Analysis to arrive at this exciting new place. We are excited! Just imagine thousands of women who are eager, passionately devoted followers of Christ, of all generations, around the world engaged in intentional spiritual formation, fervent prayer and Spirit-led giving taking a huge faith filled risk to step out of their comfort zones reaching the lost for Christ - now that is NEWS! New, news that can only spread as we each determine in our hearts to be a part of this exciting new initiative. We have tons of neat catchy phrases, platitudes, quotes, sayings...you name it and it s out regarding any of our new 7 core values, but NOTHING says it better than God s Word! Go and make disciples! article by Edna Mapstone GREAT COMMISSION WOMEN HEARTBEAT FOR MISSIONS MONTHLY MEETING WEDNESDAY - JULY 10TH, 2:00 PM (NOTE TIME CHANGE FOR SUMMER) CHURCH FELLOWSHIP HALL HOSTESS: SHIRLEY SUNNARBORG DEVOTIONS: CONNIE NYLUND - WHAT ARE SPIRITUAL GIFTS? MISSION REPORT: FRAN LAINE - URUGUAY ALL LADIES INVITED TO COME!

CHRISTMAS IN JULY JULY 28TH - FOLLOWING THE MORNING WORSHIP SERVICE Following the morning worship service on July 28th, the Alliance Women will serve muffins, fruit, juice, and coffee in the Fellowship Hall. Everyone is welcome to come! A special offering will be taken to provide Christmas gifts for the Kragt family in Germany; the Rutledge family in Nicaragua; the Hutchcraft family in Russia; the Roos family in France; and the Austin family in Africa. We are praying for a generous offering from the congregation in order to bless these families like we were able to do last year! Bev Rutledge (Sunnarborg), Matt & Jaci Hutchcraft, Tony and Raeni (Stone) Roos, and Mary (Ohren) Austin all grew up in this church. The Kragt family (Jerry, Shelly, Katie, Jason, & Anna) are our North Central District missionary family whom we adopted as our MK family when the first went to Germany as missionaries. What a privilege we have of blessing these dear ones at Christmas time! We thank you in advance for your generosity. Starting in September, we will be having a monthly coffee/tea time for ALL women in the church. This will be very informal, with a short devotional, time to visit, and to pray for one another. Time and day will be announced soon! Be watching your church mailbox for a questionnaire regarding women s ministry opportunities in our church. We would like input from every women who calls HAC her church, so that we can provide women s ministry in areas of greatest need. Looking forward to sharing coffee with you soon! Darcie Norton
