On March 2-3, Father Eric will lead the in-pew process for the Annual Catholic Appeal. Each household is asked to make a generous gift. In doing so, please consider making a pledge, payable over six months. On March 2-3, one member from each household will be asked to fill out a commitment envelope during mass. Thank you in advance for your support of our parish, the diocese and the work of the church throughout the world. 3

Council of Catholic Women This council began approximately 100 years ago by a group of women in Washington DC who were asked by a local bishop to do a number of things. It grew from there to levels in diocese & parishes. Our Bishop has chosen to organize the parishes of the Diocese of Madison into "vicariates forane" in an effort to better provide for the pastoral care of souls through common action (CIC c. 374). Sometimes called "deaneries," vicariates forane are a means to subsidiarity and allow a greater sensitivity to the extraordinary diversity of pastoral situations in the diocese. They render the coordination of pastoral action easier, encourage unity in a region, improve the efficiency of organized pastoral initiatives, and better provide for the needs of a particular community. These women s groups meet monthly and present topics dealing with human issues and parish community. Each parish decides what they want to do for meetings and service projects. The Vicariates bring the parishes together. Currently, Saint Cecilia Parish does not have an organized women's group. In June, we are hosting the Sauk Vicariete meeting. There is a planning meeting scheduled for March 9th at St. Joe s in Baraboo. If any of our ladies would like to attend this, it may be an opportunity to get more information from other parishes and then perhaps start the ground work of building on our current women's participation in service to the parish. If you have any questions or would like to attend this planning meeting, please call the parish office or Ellen Dargel at 356-7646. Ash Wednesday March 6, 2019 I N T H E P A R I S H FIRST FRIDAY EUCHARISTIC ADORATION March 1 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sign up sheet can be found in the Gathering Room FIRST SATURDAY DEVOTIONS March 2 8:00 a.m. Confessions 9:00 a.m. Holy Mass 9:30 a.m. Adoration and Holy Rosary 10:00 a.m. Benediction What Choir Means To Me: Fifteen plus years ago Tracey, our organist &music director, invited parish members to join the choir--no tryouts necessary--just a love for music. I have been in choir ever since. If you think of singing in a choir as praying, then you can join, as most of us know how to pray. I am not the best vocalist, but what I have learned over the years has made me better than when I started. I have loved the challenges of learning chants, participating in Latin Mass, and performing Vivaldi s Gloria.. Choir is community and members provide support when you need it the most. Consider joining the choir! Rose E Bingham Choir meets Thursdays @ 6:30pm Fath Formation Bake Sale March 2 & 3 After All Mass Meet Saint Cecilia s Newest Staff Member 4 We are pleased to introduce Mr. Steven Tipps. Steve and his wife, Karen are relatively new to our parish. Steve was previously employed at Columbia County in the maintenance department. They have a son, Simon who is currently studying for the priesthood in Minnesota and a daughter Trinity. Steve has been employed at Saint Cecilia s for approximately one month and appreciates all of Kelly Koenig s help showing him multiple duties related to the parish. Please take a moment to welcome Steve and his family.

Join us in the Parish Center Cafeteria at 6:30pm for soups and chili donated by many area restaurants and some of the folks you sit next to at Mass If you would like to DONATE a dessert, your chili or soup, please contact Terri at Parish Office at 608 254-8381 x3. We also could use help from anybody willing to help set up and tear down. DUFFEL DRIVE FOR HAITI Our Saint Cecilia group traveling to Haiti in March will take family portraits for the Sacred Heart parishioners after Mass on March 24. This possibly will be the first time they have had a family portrait ever. They will put these photos into small lucite frames. WE NEED YOUR HELP! The lucite frames (4 x 6 ) cost under a dollar at Wal-Mart and we project needing about 500. There is a duffel bag set up at the Haiti display in the Gathering Room. If you are able to donate a frame or two, or any of the other items listed on the display, we would appreciate it.

No Greater Love: A Biblical Walk Through Christ's Passion Five week Lenten video series and full-length book beginning March 11 th at 2pm & 6:30pm Cost $30 Contact Dave Kordell at 608-393-1719 or dkordell@dellscatholic.com Filmed on location in the Holy Land, No Greater Love is a biblical pilgrimage that reveals Christ s amazing love for us. Best-selling author Edward Sri guides you through the last hours of Christ's life. You will walk step-by-step with Jesus from the Garden of Gethsemane to the Mount of Calvary. Every step of the way, Old Testament prophecies, messianic expectations, biblical symbolism, and historical context shed light on the mystery of Christ's suffering and death. With these insights, Catholics can come to a deeper understanding and appreciation of God s immeasurable and unconditional love for drawing closer to Jesus than ever have before. Authored and Presented by Edward Sri, No Greater Love also features: Fr. Mike Schmitz, Jeff Cavins, Jennifer Fulwiler, Curtis Martin, Teresa Tomeo, Fr. Josh Johnson, and Elizabeth Sri. What was Jesus going through at each moment? How did the Old Testament foretell of Christ s death? Why did Christ die for us? What did it accomplish? What was the meaning behind the tearing of the temple veil, the crowning with thorns and other events during Christ s Passion? What do the cryptic last words of Jesus mean? In today's Gospel, Jesus gives us the challenge to: "Love your enemies...give to everyone who asks of you...do to others as you would have them do to you...be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. Give, and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down and overflowing will be poured into your lap; because the standard you use will be the standard for you."
