Thank you for the cards and gifts that blessed Renee and I this Christmas season. What a blessing you are to us, and to so many in our community! T H E V I S I T O R J A N U A R Y 2 0 1 2 Page 2 Official Notice of Chetek Lutheran s Annual Meeting January 29th * Brunch at 11am followed by meeting at noon The Trust Fund Committee is making some changes with the Council approval of large gift donations. Copies of the large gift information is available on the usher s table. Members will be asked to vote on this topic at the annual meeting. Annual Reports will be available for pick up Sunday, January 22nd before and after services. Please pick one up. January Mission Envelope January Mission Envelope: Contributions received via the Mission and Social Concerns envelopes during January will be forwarded to the Synod to be forwarded for relief efforts in Malawi. As we know, our sister church in Malawi faces so many challenges and every dollar we are able to send makes a huge difference in the lives of those who live there. We face financial challenges in the United States but they are so much smaller than those faced by our brothers and sisters in Christ in Malawi. Our gifts truly make a difference and are so greatly appreciated. Do you like to talk to people? Do you have time to make a few calls each month? We are looking for a new head usher. Responsibilities include setting up an usher schedule and recruiting and training ushers. Rod Zachary has been the head usher for many years. If you have any questions about the position Rod is the expert. If you are interested in the position contact a member of the worship committee. We would like to thank Rod for all his work over the years. We truly appreciate everything. Best wishes, The Worship Committee Mary Kamrath, Joan Cochrane, Sandi Gunderson, Kevin Prill

Page 4 WELCA Program Our first meeting of the New Year will be Wednesday, January 4, at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Theresa Riewestahl of Spooner will be our speaker. She spoke at a recent Heart of the North Conference which several of our members attended. She has connections to Chetek, as her husband, Jay, was raised south of Chetek on a farm. The Robinson Sisters will have a song for us, too. Come join us to hear this inspirational program and bring a friend. Hopefully, some of the Sand Creek women will join us, also. The W/ELCA Officers are in charge of the program and refreshments. Thank You! Our COOKIE WALK was a huge success! Thanks to everyone who baked, made crafts, worked on Friday & Saturday, purchased items, and helped in any way. It is amazing what we can accomplish when we work together. May we have the same enthusiasm in 2012 as we study God s Word, Worship, and Share the Good News of Jesus more boldly. W/ELCA Kitchen Remodeling Project: The Lutefisk Committee, when first planning the dinner, designated that the profit be given to the W/ELCA Kitchen Project. The profit was $1,902. Of that amount, $500 was given by W/ELCA to the Youth for their participation in serving the food. They are raising money to attend the National Youth Gathering. February WELCA Program Hannah Circle is in charge of the February 1 st W/ELCA Program. Marlys Renz will speak about her recent trip to Norway and the Robinson Sisters will sing for us. Put this special program on your calendar.
