Therefore, if you see this before 6:00 p.m. Wednesday evening, there is NO soup supper this evening

You are invited to join us, Wednesday, February 14 th at 7:00 p.m., for Ash Wednesday service which will include imposition of ashes. Lenten Soup Suppers will again be held each Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. prior to our Lenten worship services beginning February 21 st. Sign-up sheets may be found on the bulletin board outside the sanctuary. Soup, meat/cheese, bread, and fruit/veggies... take your pick We will use the beautiful Holden Evening Prayer for our Lenten worship services: beginning Wednesday, February 21 st at 7:00 p.m. This liturgy allows us to slow down, drink deeply of the Spirit, and commend our lives to God s faithful care and keeping. Pr. Paul s Lenten Service Sermon Series will be entitled, Were You There? (Can you guess what hymn we might sing??) Come join us, bring a friend, and bask in God s love for us. We received a letter from Pastor David Zemke earlier this week who, after prayerful consideration, has declined the call to SVLC as he feels his call is still to his current congregation. The Call Committee will meet next week to determine the next steps that will be taken as we continue our call process. Please continue to pray for this process and the settling of a new pastor for our congregation. If you have any questions, please contact a member of the Call Committee. There are plans to have a Question/Answer time following worship on Sunday. Our new MultiGen+ Bible Study is full of good discussion. Christianity and The Competition looks at sacred and secular sources to establish the credentials of Christianity. This week we will look at Religions of the Middle East: Judaism, Zoroastrianism, Manichaeism, Montanism, and Bahai. Feel free to join in any time through March 25 th ; 10:30-11:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

I share with you an email sent to our church by Pastor Jeremy Lucke, our newly elected circuit counselor (italics are mine) on February 9 th : The annual Mr/Ms CV fundraising program is a tradition at CVHS. Each year, a group of twenty Crescent Valley seniors spend the school year raising money for three local charities. In 2017, students raised over $44,000 for three charities: Children s Miracle Network, Jackson Street Youth Shelter, and The Old Mill Center. This group will be holding a Garage Sale / fundraiser at SVLC on Saturday, February 24 th. They are collecting gently used home accessories, toys, kitchenware, clothing, books, DVD's, exercise equipment, furniture, shoes, etc.if you have any of these items you would like to donate, please bring it to the church by Wednesday, February 21 st. Lenten Service Sermon Series It is with sadness that I share with you that Pastor Jim Rehley passed away early this morning (February 9 th at 1:00 a.m.) surrounded by his family. Our sadness is greeted by the hope we have in Jesus and how He promises to take care of His sheep. Let us join our hearts and voices together in uplifting the Rehley family (wife, Marilyn, and adult children--mark, John, Ruth, Peter and Paul) as they mourn his passing. A Memorial Service for Pastor Rehley will be at Zion Lutheran Church at a date and time yet to be determined. I will share the date and time as soon as I know. God's peace be with us all, Pastor Lucke As soon as I have information about a memorial service, I will pass that on to all of you. I also reached out to Zion and asked them to let us know if there is anything we might do to help Marilyn and her family. I will keep you informed. Please keep the Rehley family in your prayers.
