SISTERHOOD INTEREST SHEET 2016-17 There are many interesting projects that are part of the Sisterhood experience! Please take a moment to check off the projects and areas of interest to you. Chanukah Boutique This event takes place in the Fall of the year. Help with set-up, relieve a vendor, cashiering, or selling food. Resale This event takes place in the Summer of each year and is one of our biggest fundraisers. This event requires lots of help with set-up, sales and cashiering. Judaica Shop Open the shop on Friday nights after services, for special events and for special hours during religious school. Religious School Help with special observances including distributing holiday treats for religious school children and organizing special events. Mailings Sisterhood mailings require lots of helping hands to get mailings out. Social Action / Special Projects Activities such as helping to host luncheons for the elderly. Artistic Projects Special decorating for events and many other opportunities to be creative. Oneg / Kiddush Help to pour coffee and tea for Friday night Oneg Shabbat and hostess for Kiddush on Saturday mornings. Cook / Bake Volunteer your culinary skills by cooking or baking for special events, meetings, holiday programs, etc. College Boxes In the Fall of the year help to send holiday treats to our college students. Family Event This Fun event needs committee members both before and during the event. Kids Club Help plan and run events for children under five years old Shabbat Bags Help assemble and deliver bags to welcome new members to our Temple family Woman s Seder This event is the week before Passover. Help plan and run event. Games Galore This event is in the Spring. Help secure raffle prizes and organize this fun event. Special Events Each year we do one or more special events. This program is designed for toddlers who will be turning 2 during the late fall and early winter. Age: 15-24 months Wednesdays Kindermusik Our Time Milk & Cookies Age: 18-42 months Thursdays Kindermusik Village - Zoom Buggy! Age: 2-16 months Thursdays Shalom Shabbat Enjoy rituals and music of Shabbat and the Jewish holidays. This weekly forty-five minute class weaves Judaic values, traditions, stories and songs into each class session. Age: 10-24 months Fridays BJBE adds new programs to meet the identified needs of our community. For many needy families, the expense of preparing a child for the new school year is simply beyond their means. These families struggle to pay rent and keep food on the table. ENJOY A SUMMER EVENING UNDER THE STARS WITH GREAT MUSIC, FOOD, AND THE BJBE POST CARPOOL CLUB* THURSDAY, JULY 21 ST - RIO BAMBA Rio Bamba is an exciting blend of Brazilian, Latin, and American jazz sound with a unique blend of bossa nova, samba, and American and Latin jazz. Hot Summer Nights concerts begin at 6:00 PM. We recommend you arrive early to avoid Ravinia Traffic and to enjoy the Gardens. Admission is free with a membership parking sticker. If you do not have one, let us know and We will try to connect you with someone else attending who is a member. Bring your own Dinner and beverage, or purchase at the Gardens. We will provide dessert. Some chairs are available; you may want to bring your own chair. SATURDAY, AUGUST 20 th, 7:30 PM-Itzhak Perlman This all Beethoven program features the Chicago Symphony and the most famous violinist of our time, Itzhak Perlman. The Park opens at 5:00. Come early, and bring your own main course, beverage, chairs and table for your picnic, and either an appetizer, side dish, wine, or dessert to share with others in attendance. When you arrive at the Park, please take the path to the left of the Theater (you will be facing it after you enter the gate) follow the path down to the corner where the paths cross just before the Pavilion. We will be on the corner to the left of the Pavilion, near the wine cart and Rest Room. If you came last summer, it is the same corner. Together we will celebrate Havdalah in the Park.
