Inglewood March 2015 Baptist Church March 29, 2015: Will join us for Christ in the Passover shows the link between the ancient Festival of Redemption and Christ as the Lamb of God. The missionary uses Scripture as well as a table set with traditional Passover items to walk through a Jewish Passover seder, weaving the story of the Exodus together with the life, death and resurrection of Christ. The words He spoke in the upper room come alive as each Hebraic item is carefully explained. This powerful presentation will deepen the meaning of communion for you. You will not want to miss this unforgettable experience. Check out our website: www.inglewoodbaptist.church

Life on Mission ~ Pastor Kevin Shrum I have been asking myself this question: Is the world insane or am I? The reason I ask this question is that the world seems to be moving into a season of irrationality, where everyone does what is right in his own eyes. Isaiah 5:20 describes these kinds of seasons as the days where God says, Woe to those who call evil good and good evil In the midst of all this insanity, what are we to do? First, we must realize that we are not the first to go through such times and, unless the Lord returns, we won t be the last. So, we need to learn from those who have passed this way before. The wisdom of Scripture and the saints of old have much to say to us. We need to read once again Hebrews 11 and learn from God s people who have traversed the rocky terrain of insane societies and seasons of moral and spiritual insanity. Second, we need to hear the words of Jesus in John 16:33, I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation (trouble). But take heart; I have overcome the world. Jesus gives us three promises in this text: 1) we will have trouble, count on it; 2) His presence will be with us, bank on it; and 3) we will prevail, rest in it. Third, we cannot, we must not be diverted by every new shiny thing or be unduly upset by the moral insanity of the world. While change seems to be taking place at breakneck speed, in all actuality, nothing has really changed. People are still sinners; sinners hate truth; and, people without truth are unhitched from reality (Romans 1). So, let us keep our eye on what is true, right, and good. Fourth, we must not lose our nerve. That is, we cannot freak out. This is why Paul counseled his young understudy Timothy in 2 Timothy 4:5, As for you, always be soberminded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. In other words, don t lose your head, undergo suffering with tenacity, keep preaching the gospel, and do what God has called you to do. Let us keep our composure, our commitment to truth, and our motivations of love and grace. Finally, we must trust God. In fact, God is sovereign and reigns over all things. He has purposed all things for His glory, even the sinful acts of men. God can be trusted. He will work His purposes for His glory, the glory of His church, and for our good. It is my prayer that Inglewood Baptist Church will be an oasis of peace, truth, and love in the midst of moral and spiritual insanity.

Look what s happening in our Children s Ministry! Now Every Sunday morning! Children s Church is for kindergartners thru 4th-graders. Kids participate in their very own Worship Service, hear the Word, and do some fun learning, complete with crafts & games! Kids go from Sunday School to Worship in the sanctuary just like they always have, then about 10 minutes or so into the Worship Service, Pastor Kevin dismisses them. Ms. Sara and the other Children s Church leaders take everyone to the third floor. After Worship, parents can pick up their kids from Room 324. Our current lesson series: God s Plan for Families Parents Night Out! Friday, February 27, bring your children to us and take a night off! Kids will enjoy fun, games, movies and pizza from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm. Donations for Centri-Kid Camp will be accepted. Please sign up in the Welcome Center. If you have any questions, please see Sara Dennis. AWANA is in need of slightly used or new toys for the AWANA store. Participants earn store cash by wearing their uniforms, learning Bible verses, participating in theme night, bringing their Bible and by bringing their handbook. Encourage a child to learn the Scripture; give toys to the AWANA Ministry. See Sara Dennis with questions and donations.

IBC Snow Policy: If Metro/Davidson County Schools are closed or close early on a Wednesday, there will be no activities that night. If Sunday activities need to be cancelled due to accumulating snow/ice, we will put that information on the church website and contact Channels 2, 4, 5 & 17. We will also do our best to communicate via email and phone calls.

Nursery & Preschool Our nursery and preschool area is located on the first floor of our building. Our bed babies through pre-k meet here each Sunday morning to be loved on and told stories about Jesus. This area recently received a new look through fresh coats of paint. Children s Department Our children s department at IBC meets on the second floor in the educa onal por on of our building. This area received a faceli with new paint, carpet, and fixtures just a couple of years ago. We have classes for kindergarten, grades 1&2, grades 3&4, and grades 5&6. These classes are taught by caring teachers whose main goal is to show the love of Jesus each week through age/grade appropriate curriculum. We have some of the best children s leaders around and they would love to work with your children! Student Ministry Here at Inglewood, we take the next genera on seriously. We have a budding youth program that is ac ve in relevant Bible studies, fellowships, and many local mission projects. Our youth building (located adjacent to the church) is currently under major renova on. At the present me, our students meet on the third floor of the main building on Sundays and Wednesdays, but hope to be back on their own turf very soon. They are led by our student minister, Daniel Hassell, and other adult volunteers. God s Helpers We have several adults at IBC who are challenged with special needs and our God s Helpers class meets these needs each Sunday morning with the help of two excep onal teachers. They meet on the first floor just past the Welcome Center.

IBC s AWANA Program Our AWANA program for children ages 18 months through grade 6 meets each Wednesday evening beginning at 6pm. There are classes for all age groups! AWANA, which stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed, is a Bible verse memoriza on program that equips and disciples children by emphasizing the importance of Hiding God s Word in your heart! The two main goals of AWANA are: 1. To reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ 2. To train them to service Him. The AWANA program is divided into four segments each Wednesday night: Elec ves, Handbook me, Council me, and Game me. In Handbook Time, Clubbers recite for their leader the sec ons they have memorized. Emphasis is placed on helping Clubbers in Bible memory and helping them understand what the verses mean. During Council Time, Clubbers have a lesson from God s Word or a Mission Moment. Achievement awards are also given during this me. Clubbers play fun games while learning leadership, teamwork, and communica- on skills during Game Time. Occasionally, snacks will be provided in conjunc on with our theme.

www.awana.org Puggles recognizes the learning ability of 2- and 3-year-olds by introducing biblical precepts at church and equipping parents to teach them at home. Toddlers love having their very own Awana club just like their older siblings. Cubbies celebrates the spiritual poten al of preschoolers (3- to 5-year-olds) by helping them develop respect for God, His Son and His Word. Sparks ignites the curiosity of early elementary-age kids (K to grade 2) to learn about the people and events of the Bible, building a founda on of wisdom for knowing Christ. T&T engages third- through sixth-graders by answering their ques ons about God and the Bible, guiding them through this pivotal life stage to grow in Christ's grace. If you have any ques ons about our AWANA program, please feel free to contact the church (228-2546) or our Children s Ministry Director, Sara Dennis, at msmctjm@comcast.net.
