The Solemnity of the Transfiguration of the Lord Contemporary Rite p. 63 Penitential Rite p. 66 V. Beloved, we are God s children now; what we shall be has not yet been revealed. We do know that when it is revealed we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. R. All of us, gazing with unveiled face on the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, as from the Lord Who is the Spirit. V. Glory be R. As it was A Reading from the Book of the Prophet Daniel. Daniel 7:9-14 As I watched: Thrones were set up and the Ancient One took his throne. His clothing was bright as snow, and the hair on his head as white as wool; his throne was flames of fire, with wheels of burning fire. A surging stream of fire flowed out from where he sat; Thousands upon thousands were ministering to him, and myriads upon myriads attended him. The court was convened and the books were opened. As the visions during the night continued, I saw: One like a Son of man coming, on the clouds of heaven; when he reached the Ancient One and was presented before him, the one like a Son of man received dominion, glory, and kingship; all peoples, nations, and languages serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that shall not be taken away, his kingship shall not be destroyed. This is the Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Psalm Deacon s Dialogue Rev. Mr. Richard Kasprzak This Sunday at All Saints is really going to be cute. When I was there 2 weeks ago, I really made it a point to say goodbye and to thank the congregation for being so friendly and welcoming for the weeks that I have been doing the service there. I am trying to come up with a humorous way of saying hello, and going on and on about how I appreciate being asked to serve there. And then, maybe I ll say something Hey, this place looks familiar. I ve been here before, haven t I. Of course, seeing as how this Sunday is the Feast of the Transfiguration of Jesus on the mountain with Saints Peter, James and John, I shall be wearing white instead of green vestments. It is really fitting that we are wearing white, as this is one of the few times that God the Father proclaims Jesus as His Son. The baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist in the Jordan river was one, and the other was at the Transfiguration, which we celebrate today. I am still working on the Homily for the Sunday of Transfiguration, and it is sometimes difficult to decide in which direction to go. I think that having witnesses to this event is the way, but it is still a work in progress. Faith is an act of rational choice which determines us to act as if certain things are true and in the confident expectation that the will prove to be true. ~WILLIAM R. INGE The Lord is king, the Most High over all the earth. (Psalm 119) A reading from the Second Letter of St. Peter. 2 Peter 1:16-19 Beloved: We did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we had been eyewitnesses of his majesty. For he received honor and glory from God the Father when that unique declaration came to him from the majestic glory, "This is my Son, my beloved, with whom I am well pleased." We ourselves heard this voice come from heaven while we were with August 6, 2017 2 August 6, 2017 11

And he was transfigured before them; his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, conversing with him. Then Peter said to Jesus in reply, "Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah." While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud cast a shadow over them, then from the cloud came a voice that said, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him." When the disciples heard this, they fell prostrate and were very much afraid. But Jesus came and touched them, saying, "Rise, and do not be afraid." And when the disciples raised their eyes, they saw no one else but Jesus alone. As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, "Do not tell the vision to anyone until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead." This is the Gospel of the Lord.
