5756 Zachary Taylor Highway Mineral, Virginia 23117 (540) 894-4458 (phone) (540) 894-5955 (fax) Volume 36, Issue 2 February 7, 2016 Generous Heart Of A Disciple Pastor Lynn W. Beanum, Jr. reetings in the Miraculous name of Jesus, our Captain and Soon-coming King. I give thanks unto him for his loving kindness, grace and mercies. We as followers of Christ are generous to the extent we are transformed by and live in light of what God has done for us in the radical generosity of Christ crucified. We should be so blown away by God's radical love for us and the forgiveness that comes from the crucifixion that we give our hearts totally captivated by God and what He's done/[doing] for us. Generosity isn't a money thing; it's a discipleship and kingdom thing. We don't give to people or to church, we give to God, it's an act of worship (http:// www.preachingtoday.com/sermons/ sermons/2012/december/becoming-generousgiver.html). Paul said in 1 Cor. 13:1-10, If we speak with tongues of men and angels, and have not love, we are only a sounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If we have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, if we have faith that can move mountains, but have not love, we are nothing. We can give all we possess to the poor and our bodies to be burned, but have not love, we gain nothing. For love is patient and kind, it does not envy or boast, it isn't proud or rude and doesn't seek it's own; it's not easily angered and doesn't keep record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth. It always protects, trust, hopes and preserves. Love never fails, but prophecies will cease, tongues will be stilled, knowledge will pass away. For we know and prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect will disappear. We are encouraged to follow the way of love. John 13:34-35, A new commandment I give unto you that you love one another as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one to another. 1 John 3:18-19, warns us not to love in words, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. Valentine's Day should be celebrated year round, and will be when Christ is in our hearts. It brings joy to Him. Amen, amen and amen. Verse for the Month If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? - 1 John 4:20

A Word from Our Editor Love Lifted Me Praise the Lord, dear readers. I pray that the blessings you have claimed this year will overtake you like a storm. There is no need to worry, and no need to fret. God has never left you yet. The good news is, He never will! Have you experienced the Love of Jesus? Oh, how precious it is to be loved by God. The Love of God is amazing. It s a Love that will keep you, guide you and bless you all the days of your life. Let me try to express to you my experience with the Love of Jesus Christ. This Love will never turn me loose. When I wake up it s there. When I kneel in prayer it s there. When I run up against a test Elders Speak or a trial it s already there. To know that God has a handle on the tests, and a cover over my trials; even before the enemy hurdles them my way, brings peace to my soul. The Love of God preserves and lifts like nothing else can. The song, Love Lifted Me, by James Rowe says, All my heart to Him I give, ever to Him I ll cling. In His blessed presence live, ever His praises sing, Love so mighty and so true, merits my soul s best songs, Faithful, loving service too, to Him belongs. Love lifted me! This love (Jesus) came down and rescued me. The Love of Jesus is so powerful, it negates the enemy s best plot. Satan can not devise a plan to quench the Love of Christ. No wonder the word of God instructs us Love is Love When it s Given Unconditionally We say Praise the Lord to All. It s easy to say, I love You! But, to love someone regardless of how they look, act or where they come from is the true test. Our love should be unselfish as stated in Matthew 22:39, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. John 13:35, By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. John 15:12, This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Romans 5:8, But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. John 15:13, Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Oh, how I love Jesus, just because He loves you and me. by: Sister Marilyn Silver to give thanks in ALL things! I d rather trust my creator than to bow down to the adversary. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). While keeping your eyes on Christ, let His love lift you higher; over your tests and over your trials. Let s love Him, because He first Loved us. We are His Valentine! by: Elder Clinton Porter, Sr. I love you Lord by Sis. Tara D. Lewis (submitted by Elder Clinton Porter, Sr. ) I love You Lord In my own special way And the Life I live Is for your glory The day breaks And the sun shines my way All I can think Is how You ve blessed me To start all over again Today, I ll praise you more Your word shall nourish me My prayers will never cease I love you Lord In my own special way And the Life I live Is for your glory My soul cries out to thee Hallelujah! Temple Men Speak Greetings to you in the name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I hope your ministry is doing well. Even so ye, for as much as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church (Matt. 22:14). For many are called but few are chosen. The Bible states in Matt. 18:12, How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray? This includes every Christian that is on meat. Hebrews 5:12 reads, Temple Women Speak by: Deacon Steve Robinson For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. Did you not know that this is the first principle of God? It seems like we don t care about the lost sheep. If you going to preach or teach to me, you must be doing these things. Love you in the Lord. by: Sis. April Sims Volume 36, Issue 2 - February 7, 2016 Page 3

Joy in the New Year" (excerpts- Posted by Sharon ) http://christiancaregiving.blogspot.com/search? How will you enter this new year, dear caregiver? Will you be able to face the new year with an attitude of gratitude and joy in spite of the challenges in your life and in the life of your loved one? Joy and difficult times can exist together. This is because joy is not the same as happiness which is dependent on perfect circumstances. In fact, I believe joy is often increased during difficult times in our lives. Read I Peter 1:3-9 for yourself, dear caregiver, and be blessed by the words there. This passage points out that those who love the Lord have been given a great hope, a guaranteed future, an eternal inheritance. Even now we are guarded and guided by our Lord and our faith until we will be with the Lord forever. You do not need to walk the caregiving walk alone, dear caregiver. The Lord wants to walk with you each step of the way. You can have communion with Him now. This is what can fill you with an "inexpressible and glorious joy," as you walk the difficult path of family care-giving. in everything going our way. It can only be found in the Lord and in fixing our eyes on Him. Everything else is temporary and of no ultimate value. Dear caregiver, I am not trying to downplay your heartaches and challenges today. I understand the discouragement of the overwhelming challenges and heartaches that often accompany family care-giving. I lived them. There are often times when you will not "feel" joyful. We need to be honest with the Lord about our negative feelings in those moments. In those moments, however, also look to the true source of joy, the Lord. This is a kind of joy that can't be psyched up in ourselves. It is also not a joy which can be faked by putting on an appearance. It is not a joy which can be found in superficial things or mycrazylifeasanavywife.blogspot.com Thanks to the many readers who have contributed to the Newsletter with your prayers, encouragements and finances!
