From the Desk of Rev. David Foster: There is a word that carries great meaning and importance for the Church of Jesus Christ as we seek to share the good news of God s love. That word is PARTNERSHIP. Paul, in each of his letters, mentions fellow servants by name who are working along side him for the sake of the gospel. It is evident that Paul realized something very important. That is, we need each other. The Church, the Body of Christ (whom Christ is the Head), must partner together for the purpose of the advancement of the gospel. If Paul saw the necessity of working together, do you think we should, as well? Dear Bladen Baptist Association, we have partnered together for just that very purpose. As I write this message, there are 200 back packs in our BBA office that were provided by some churches of this Association (partnership) of churches. Each back pack will provide us the privilege of presenting the gospel to the one who will receive it. Each back pack has a copy of God s Word tucked inside. There the student will be able to read of God s love for them through His Son, Jesus, the Christ. Please know that this would not be possible without you and your partnership. I have to say, I am blown away by your response. I wish you could have seen, and heard, the joy each partner expressed as he/she brought the back pack(s) to the office. There was great excitement. Some spent several hours in the office sorting and labeling the back packs. Each one was unzipped, making sure it contained a Bible. That was a great effort. Some elementary students came and packed almost 20 back packs with items donated. When they finished, we had prayer for those who would receive the packs. They had hands-on experience of the partnership of the gospel. I can t think of any better training! Beth and I picked up 200 back pack from the Shelby Missions Camp to help us reach our goal of 382. The week before Christmas (Saturday through Tuesday) fourteen members from three different churches traveled to Mallory, West Virginia. We partnered with Big Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Mallory. Pastor Perry Brown and his wife, Sheila, have served there for a few years. The 400 back packs were given out to each student following a school wide assembly on Monday afternoon. During the assembly, we sang some Christmas songs and then shared the gospel in a simple, clear, powerful way. This gave us the opportunity to tell the students and faculty just how much God loves them. I encourage you to keep the partnership alive as we pray together for the light of Christ to burn bright in the hearts of the people in Mallory. Needs for Southeastern Carolina Crossroads There are several items that are in great need. IF you or your congregation, women s group, or men s group can help, please do so. Toilet Paper - Paper Towels 55 gal. & 13 gal. trash bags - 3 ring binders (one inch) Cleaning Supplies - Hand Soap (bottles) Copier Paper (8 1/2 x 11) Items can be dropped off at the Bladen Baptist Association Monday - Thursday 8:30 am - 4:30pm Little Things Make A Big Difference Did you know that last year over $10,000 was collected just by recycling used ink cartridges? Let s work together in Bladen County and double that amount by doing something so simple; dropping off used ink cartridges. It takes very little time and effort and makes a big difference in many lives!! Drop off used cartridges. Bladen Baptist Association Monday Thursday 9am 4pm Share this with everyone you know, especially your local businesses!
