Zion's congregation.was a division of the earlier Primitive Baptist, with it being anew school Bap1iist church organized June 23, 1835. It has a i'urther Significance for. its setting. Backbehind is a graveyard with borw6ods.. The stonework in Mr.. Zion is very significant for the small stones which arej.aid aljnost resembj.ing brick coursing. Tnougnt the stone are limestone, the ma.jority af the stone buildings in Berkeley Countya!~~illt.. of a mixtare of large and small s tones. The JIla$an~ crb.ftsmansnip used in construction of the building represents a work of art. The church building was built for the 3rd Baptist congregation in Berkeley County.
