Joplin Church of the Nazarene District HIGHLIGHTS Fall 3- Dear Pastors, Staff, Lay People and Friends of the Joplin District, WOW! It's been a whole months since we started our ministry together. I have had the awesome privilege of being in churches and having a significant time of fellowship with at least pastors in this short period of time. I have heard stories of God giving new vision to pastors, lay people getting inspired and charged up about planting churches and many across the district believing God is up to something wonderful in these days on the Joplin District. Rev. Mark Bane I want to write today and let you know my plan to visit with you and get better District Superintendent acquainted with you and your families. I am currently trying to set my schedule to be in each church on our district on a Sunday morning service. We have already filled the schedule through the end of January and it may take years to get into every church. I want to make sure I honor every church and every size church with a Sunday morning visit where I can see what God is doing on His day and see what God is doing in your ministry. Please contact the district office and help schedule these times with you. I can't wait to get acquainted with all of you more. Please know I am praying for you, I believe in you, and I expect great things for God because of your great leadership and faith. I m anxious to meet you all. Send your assigned Missionary Christmas Fund in to Global Treasury Services by September 5, 3. (Check your Goal s Page on 3- of the NMI Resource Book to find out your assignment. More information about this important fund can be found on page 4 of the same book.). Alabaster Offerings are collected during September as well as February. Through the faithful giving of Nazarenes around the globe over 8,8 projects have been funded and built through Alabaster Funds since its inception in 948. % of these funds go for the purchase of land or to build buildings needed on our mission fields. 3. The Emphasis for the month is NMI Membership. This is a great time to start establishing the NMI membership of your local church body. That way, it will make reporting in April much easier. For guidelines, see page 4 of the NMI Resource Book. October Emphasis The second half of our church year starts in October. It s a great time to do a check-up with regard to your church meeting its goals toward becoming a Mission Priority One church. Is your local church praying for missions? Are the adults of your church investing in your youth and children and involving them in the mission focus of your church? Are you faithfully contributing to the World Evangelism Fund in addition to the various offerings collected? Are you regularly educating your congregation of the world s needs and those of our missionaries? If you need some ideas in these areas, check out pages -5 of the NMI Resource Notebook. November Emphasis International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church is Sunday, November, 3. We have so many Christian brothers and sisters around the world in jeopardy simply because they have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord. You will find information about this important day at the NMI website in the prayer section. (www.nazarenemissions.org) The Thanksgiving Offering for World Evangelism is Sunday, November, 3. May God bless your efforts to help fund our mission program in the Church of the Nazarene.
