Page 6// Camp Hope Update Camp Hope Update One of my absolute favorite parts about summer camp is seeing the body of Christ coming together in such a beautiful way! As previously stated, Camp Hope will begin on June 5, 2017 and will end on August 4, 2017! With one week break in between, you counted correctly, that is eight weeks of summer camp! That is eight weeks of getting to share the gospel each and every day! We are so thankful for Jesus and for this amazing opportunity! Camp Hope would not be possible without our partnering churches. Each church has agreed to partner with We Will Go Ministries to lead a week of Camp Hope. Can you imagine the impact that this summer is going to have on children and families, not only for our neighbors, but for our volunteers and church partners! With the start of Camp Hope being less than a month away, you can be praying with us during this time of preparation. We are believing Jesus for more individuals to sponsor children to attend Camp Hope, and for God to provide more Summer Interns! For more information on how to get involved please visit https://www.wewillgo.org/ministries/the-fountain/ or send an email to fountain@wewillgo.org. One of our ideas for Camp Hope is to offer a Point Shop once a week. At We Will Go Ministries we open the Fountain on Farish weekdays from 3-5PM for all ages. We assist with homework help, open up our gym for basketball, and have snacks, prayer and devotional time every day! We have noticed that our younger kids really enjoy having a goal to work towards each day. What that looks like for us practically is to reward children with points. At the end of each month we tally up all the points for each child and the top five point winners get to attend a special event or field trip! Considering that this summer will be filled with special events and field trips, we have the idea to open up a Point Shop where campers have the opportunity to save the points to purchase various items. These items will range anywhere from candy to books to toy guitars! Maybe you have done something similar in the past? We would love to hear your ideas or see how you can be a part! Mother s Day Reflections By WWG Alumni Laura Sims Jay and Laura Sims are currently serving as Intercessory Missionaries with the Quebec House of Prayer in Quebec, Canada. They are the proud parents of Hunter, Gabby and Maggie I believe that when you have a child you get a small glimpse of the Fathers love for His children. This year I have been pondering what being a parent really means. Some days being a parent brings us such great joy we can hardly contain it. And some days it brings us such sorrow that there aren t enough Kleenex s to dry our tears. But we continue never quitting on love, no matter how hard it is. Being a parent means that we want to call up the best in our kids, even when we may not feel like it or see it. I love the story of Gideon where Gideon is in a wine press threshing grain. A wine press is under ground; it s where you press wine not thresh grain. Gideon was hiding underground in the press. The angel of the Lord appeared to him and said, Greetings mighty warrior! Even though it was obvious that Gideon was scared because he was hiding in the wine press the angel didn t address him as a coward, He called up something really deep within Gideon a mighty warrior. I believe as a godly parent that is what we are supposed to do. On those hard days when we don t feel like a great parent, or when we are going through hard times with our children at the end of the day we just want them to know Jesus. I always try during those hard times to call up the opposite of what I am feeling. God s love is a love that goes through the valley of the shadow of death to bring life into being, then it is a love that sacrifices itself over and over again, even daring to lay down its life for its own offspring. Being a parent teaches me more than ever how much I need Jesus, and how I haven t arrived yet. This mothers day many mothers will go to lunch, they will get flowers, cards, or hugs and nice words. But mothers day is so much more than that to me. Being a mom is teaching me it is an opportunity to learn more about the heart of God and how wide, how long, how high and how deep His love is for His children. I pray that it teaches you that too. Don t forget MOM May 14th!! Gift ideas for mom!
Redeemer54 Update season of transition: Getting settled in MS The last couple of months have been a season of transition for our family. It is with great joy that we have welcomed Lee's 13 year old daughter Annslea to live with us full time! We have also spent much time in prayer seeking the Lord to see what He has planned for our family here in Mississippi. He is faithful to provide the following answers: Our change in location does NOT change our calling! We are moving into the Broadmoor neighborhood in North Jackson! Our vision is to launch a disciple making movement that will reach the unchurched in the neighborhood and spread throughout the city and state! We plan to move into our new house the first week of May and will rent as we continue to work out financing to purchase the house. This is a HUGE blessing and will allow our family to get settled in our own home just in time for baby girl Philippa Joy to be born in June! Redeemer 54 is launching out as a separate ministry! We will remain connected to WWG as alumni and volunteers, and we will always consider David & Amy as our spiritual parents. We are thankful for their continued prayers and support. We plan to continue raising support to fund ministry here in Jackson, MS as well as to financially support our team's continued work with refugees in the Mediterranean Region. We will share information about how to give through our new ministry once we have our 501(c)3 set up and are approved by the IRS! By: Casalee Burroughs Hi! I'm Casalee Burroughs! I am an upcoming senior at Brandon High School. I am super excited about what God is going to do through me and in me this summer. When I was praying about Camp Hope, God spoke to me and said, 'Be a light in the darkest places this summer. Hold nothing back'. That is my goal. I want to truly be a light within the darkest parts of Jackson and the people that come in our doors at WeWillGo while also holding nothing back from all my relationships, interactions and little moments. By: Devon Kravet With just a year left of college, I heard the Lord tell me in January, "Start saving." When I figured that He was leaving it at that and the rest was for me to trust Him and wait, I started saving. Three months later, I heard that We Will Go was putting on a summer camp and needed a team to run it. I had worked in children's ministry for eight years putting on camps, VBS, and even programs on mission trips so my summers were always taken! Since stepping out of children's and youth ministry at my church to finish my degree in art, my summer was open! But I knew God had unique plans for this summer. I had heard about We Will Go from a few different friends and was always interested in visiting. When I finally came, I knew immediately this is what the Lord had planned for me. A few years back God asked me if I was ready for the wilderness. I felt like Peter telling boasting that I would go anywhere for Jesus. And God took my excitement quite literally. Those 4 years have been full of stripping, healing, and deepening an intimacy with Him I never knew possible. God is constantly teaching me that my 'Yes' is important but the most important is my 'Yes' in the every day and moment. I've known for years I was called to the mission field but I pray always for my eyes to be open to the ripe field in front of me. For me that has been art school and coffee shops. And for three months it will be Jackson. Whichever field God places me in, I know He will bring His people whether children, artists, the church or coffee lovers and my mission is to always be His hands and feet to them. WWG INTERNSHIP The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields. Matthew 9:37-38 Summer // 3 months Short Term // 6 months Long Term // 1 year+ Pasto r // 2 y ea rs+ At We Will Go, loving our neighbors looks like giving away a LOT of food each and every day! If you have food to donate or would like to provide a Sunday meal, please contact Adriel Wright at food@wewillgo.org or call 601.398.4210 ext 2. Sunday Meals: Each Sunday we serve a meal after worship. It is a fun time to sit down as a family and love our neighbors and volunteers. Snacks Bags: we give snack bags to our neighbors on the streets and our friends that come to our homes hungry. The snack bag is a fun group project for churches and families who want to help and come together as a group to serve. Last year we gave nearly 4,000 snack bags out and we're always in need of groups, churches, and families coming together to make the bags. A snack bag is a zip lock bag that contains five non-perishable food items with a scripture verse or word of encouragement included. The five items are canned meat, crackers, fruit cup, cookie, and bottled water. Food Pantry: Monday - Friday we do Hands N Feet which is where we take our neighbors (single parent families, homeless, grandmothers raising grandchildren, the elder, poor families, families who just lost their job) through and provide them with a bag of groceries. They are welcome to come every 30 days for food. Ways that you or your church can partner and bless We Will Go is by holding can drives at your local churches, school, or among your life or social groups. We're always needing donations for the following food items: Canned Meat, Soup, Pop-top Canned Goods, Ramen, Canned Ravioli, Bags of Rice and/or Beans, Granola, Crackers, Peanut Butter/Jelly, Cereal, Oatmeal packages, and Bottled Water. How to Give We Will Go is a faith ministry, entirely dependent upon the generosity and responsiveness of the Lord s people to the prompting of the Holy Spirit. It is our joy and honor to share the love of Jesus with our neighbors, friends and visitors, for the purpose of making disciples for His glory. Many of our friends are very generous, both financially and through gifts and supplies they donate to We Will Go. We trust our Lord and Savior to speak to hearts to provide. He is faithful! Give online or by mail. See contact info below! We Will Go Ministries, 806 N Farish Street, Jackson, MS 39202
