Director Comments January 2018 Lilac City Riders, Chapter "G" Goldwing Touring Association Spokane, WA 99212 January 2018 Newsletter Upcoming Event January 2018 6 Monthly Meeting 13 Game Night 27 Spud Feed January Birthdays 6 Antoinette Wisowaty 19 Jerry Boorman January Anniversaries 1 Bob and Camille Watson Thank you for your over welling support for our highly contested run for Chapter Directors. We would also like to thank Dan and Grace Cash for stepping up, or into a mud hole as Assistant Directors We look forward to working with them. First, we want to thank our former Chapter Directors (Dennis and Dorothy) and our former Assistant Chapter Directors (Joe and Carol) for stepping up the last term and prolonging the date at which we felt we had to volunteer. They did a wonderful job and we hope to follow their fine example. Our chapter will always be open to new ideas and activities for more fun and ways to obtain new members. Try to think of new ways that YOU can bring new members to our chapter. We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and hope to see you at the next meeting. Terry and Peggy Burns December 2, 2017 The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance. There were no guests at this meeting. Meeting minutes for November were approved. Safety Director Michael Mustered not present. Joe Henscheid spoke of the few riders out there still riding even though it is very cold. So, beware. Terry Burns said how very embarrassed he was by the lack of turn out for the dinner after the parade. Many people showed their hands at the last meeting and only six came to the Cabin Restaurant for dinner on the day after Thanksgiving. The Christmas Party is December 9 th at the Eagles. The doors open at 5pm and dinner is at 6pm. Gift

Exchange dollar limit is $15. Presents for men to men and women to women. We voted not to do the ugly sweater contest. Wreaths Across America is at noon December 16 th at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Medical Lake. For those attending if you wish to have lunch at Dave s for lunch in Spokane Valley on Sprague and Pines. There are rumors that the Eagles are having some problems. Please be patient. We may have to discuss another location for the next Christmas Party. Bob Morgan has shirts for our members. The shirts are $22. Someone though they were only $15. Joe Henscheid spoke about the renewal membership cards. They will be coming in the near future. He also spoke about the website calendar for next year. January 13 th is game night. We will play bunco. Spud Feed January 27 th. Barbara and Mike Fortney are doing the potatoes. Antoinette Wisowaty asked if any of the lady members would like to do a lunch at the Davenport Palm Court restaurant on December 6 th. Terry Burns suggested we move the Auction later in the year so more members will be able to attend. Terry s game was about all the change on your person. The person with the most dimes (Joe Henscheid) won the free breakfast at the Golden Corral. Helen Morgan won the Colors drawing of $10. 50/50 was won by Dan Cash and Jeff Richards. Each received $16.75. The Club received $33.50. Respectfully submitted, Antoinette Wisowaty Co-Secretary ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY Written by Peggy Burns About 25 of us gathered at the Eagles in Spokane on Saturday, December 9 for the annual Christmas party. Attendance was down somewhat from normal. A number of our members have become Snowbirds and fled south before the bad weather hit and also our membership has declined for a variety of reasons. Regardless of our numbers, we all had a very fun time. Joe and Carol Henscheid did an outstanding job of decorating and purchasing prizes for the raffles (normal Christmas raffle and the loser ticket raffle). Carol also came up with a fun bingo game and another game where you guessed how many Christmas ornaments were in a container. The were 149 ornaments in the container. Peggy Burns won with a guess of 145. The mileage contest was normal. The person with hardly any tickets (3) won first prize. Peggy Burns won 1st, Lyle Polack and Jack Loveland won 2 nd, 3 rd and 4 th. One of them won twice, but I can t remember who it was. The food was good. Those who had prime rib were given enormous pieces and lots of shrimp. Those having salmon also got generous size pieces. The gift exchange was pretty slow regarding stealing gifts until after about half of us had

chosen presents. Then for some reason the stealing began and continued until the last person chose to open the last present. Even the first person chosen to pick a gift decided to steal when she got to be the last person given a chance to steal. There were lots of nice gifts so it was not surprising that a lot of stealing went on. The Christmas party was also the occasion where the chapter directorship was officially handed over to the new chapter directors, Terry and Peggy Burns and new assistants, Dan and Grace Cash. We wish to sincerely thank Dennis McDaniel, Dorothy Hobert and Joe and Carol Henscheid for being the previous chapter directors and assistant directors. They did an exemplary job of keeping us up to date and in the loop regarding GWTA. They also made it fun to be a member and participate in the many activities this club provides. We will strive to follow their fine example. Badwater 282 Feet below sea level China Date Ranch dates bagged for picking Larry and Trish Stevens are playing Snowbirds this year. Leaving for Pahrump for the winter Death Valley Trip It was very windy the day we went to Death Valley. We need more of your childhood pictures. Here are some of the pictures from that trip.

Guess Who??? If you know who the person is pictured in the next column, please tell Carol Henscheid at the next meeting. You could win five 50/50 tickets. You must be at the meeting in order to win. padiwgn@gmail.com (509) 714-7848 Co-Secretary Antoinette Wizowaty toshawizo@hotmail.com (509)315-4293 Treasurer Dan Cash dangracecash@comcast.net (509) 939-3526 Membership/Retention Club Clothing Bob & Helen Morgan morganbhmorgan@q.com (509) 990-4647 Co-Safety Coordinators Michael Mustered mmustered@hotmail.com (509) 868-9965 Who am I???????
