With the blessing of His Grace, Bishop Gregory, we will be having monthly unction services. Unction is one of the seven sacraments of the Orthodox Church. It is not reserved exclusively for the dying or for Holy Wednesday. Rather, it is a healing sacrament which can be performed at any time of the year. It is open to all Orthodox Christians who require healing of both the body and the soul. Please come and experience this healing sacrament. We will be visiting the Zoe for Life House on Saturday, January 21 at 10:30 AM to drop off our diapers and to receive a tour of the house. We will meet at the Zoe House; 5454 State Road; Parma, OH 44134. All are welcome to attend! Our Parish has teamed up with Royal Oak Recycling to help take care of our environment and our church. For every ton of paper that we collect, Royal Oak Recycling will give us $30.00. We will be keeping the earth green and saving green for our church! Please collect your paper products from home and place them in the recycling bin in the corner of the church parking lot. For a list of acceptable items, please see Fr. Nick. The weekend of January 15, His Grace, Bishop Gregory, will visit our parish. The full schedule of the weekend will be available shortly. We all should be here to welcome His Grace to our parish. Beginning in February, Fr. Nick will be holding adult catechism classes at the church. Classes will be open to the public. The first class will be Monday, February 6 at 7:00 PM. Please bring your friends, neighbors and yourselves to learn more about the Orthodox Faith!

Please Note, Fr. Nick will be visiting his family in Connecticut from January 17-20. House Blessings 2017 The time between Theophany and the beginning of Lent is the traditional time to have your house blessed with the newly blessed Holy Water. Please contact Fr. Nick to schedule a time to have your house blessed. Please keep in mind the following: 1) Have a table or family icon corner set up with a white cloth and a bowl for Holy Water. 2) Turn off TVs, radios, and stereos 3) Take the telephone off the receiver and turn your cell phone off; remember to put your telephone back on the receiver and turn your cell phone on after the short service! 4) Gather the family together 5) Bring items you want blessed and any names of people for Fr. Nick to remember at Liturgy 6) Your home does NOT have to be spotless, but the floor should be free clutter so that Father does not trip 7) Close doors to rooms that you do not Father to enter open other doors and turn on the lights in the rooms you want Father to enter and bless 8) A family member should lead Father through the home 9) Your pets may also receive a blessing, but please keep them under control during the service so that Father does not trip 10) I look forward to sharing this special blessing with you and your family!

To Ponder The Father was revealed to the sense of hearing; the Spirit was revealed to the sense of sight, and in addition to these, the Son was revealed to the sense of touch. The Father uttered His witness about the Son, the Son was baptized in the water, and the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove hovered above the water. When John the Baptist witnessed and said about Christ, Behold, the Lamb of God, Who takes away the sins of the world (John 1:29), and when John immersed and baptized the Lord in the Jordan, the mission of Christ in the world and the path of our salvation was shown. That is to say: The Lord took upon Himself the sins of mankind and died under them [immersion] and became alive again [the coming out of the water]; and we must die as the old sinful man and become alive again as cleansed, renewed and regenerated. This is the Savior and this is the path of salvation. St. Nikolai Velimirovich
