Community Lay Directors Thoughts

Next Gathering, Houghton, Sept 8th, 2007

Don t panic; gather prayer partners; pray to God for help; ask God for supernatural help; worship God.

And we ask that He continues to bring about the healing and restoration necessary to allow us to focus on the right paths.

Upcoming Gatherings September 13th: Santa Claus UMC October 11th: Santa Claus Campgrounds November 8th: Main Street UMC Boonville December 13th: St James West Evansville January 10th: Newburgh UMC Sponsorship Chairperson Joyce Cundiff I am excited to announce the first sponsorship training for my term. It is scheduled for September 20, 2014 from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Newburgh United Methodist Church. We will have limited space, so I need all 4 th Day to consider coming. Please reserve your spot by email to Joyce Cundiff at j.cundiff91@gmail.com. I promise you, many of the oldest Emmaus 4 th Day members need to attend this training as well as brand new ones. Please put this training schedule in your church bulletins. Hopefully, we will wake up some of our community that has gone astray, and we can ease them back in by attending this class. We are constantly asking you to pray about whom to sponsor. The other prayer is for wisdom about the person you are to sponsor. Wise sponsorship is careful, intentional, prayerful, and purposeful because it results from God s leading (Upper Room). Remember that we are looking for pilgrims who will return to their church committed, effective disciples. Sponsors, please review your applications before sending them to the registrar. Lindy is already receiving applications that do not have a deposit with them or applications in which the sponsor has not checked the commitment boxes. Working a Walk The lay directors have their lists and will be calling the Fourth Day to fill their teams. Please start praying about working the walks, so if they call you, you can give them an answer. If you would like to work a walk, you can go to the website and let us know or talk to the LDs.

SPONSORING THE APPLICATION: FIRST, ALL parts of the application must be completed and signed. Read the Sponsor Information section of the application carefully and prayerfully consider your responsibility as a sponsor before signing your name. Incomplete applications cannot and will not be processed. SECOND, Applications must be sent to the Evansville District Walk to Emmaus (EDWE) registrar by the sponsor along with the initial non-refundable $50.00 deposit. The Sponsor is to complete all communications with the Registrar regarding the Pilgrim unless special circumstances dictate otherwise. THIRD, Refund Policy If a pilgrim must cancel the nonrefundable deposit will be carried over until the next scheduled walk. If the pilgrim does not make the next walk a new application complete with a non-refundable deposit is required. Journey #9 August 8-10, 2013 "Thrive" Phil. 3:12-14 At 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 8th, Journey #9 will begin. Jesus has prepared the team so well, just like He always does. Amazing things are going to bless us all. Come and see all that is done! The 4th day is invited to pray on the Prayer Vigil. Contact Karen and Larry Kulenkamp at kulenkamp@sit-co.net or at 812-982-2120. The 4th day is also invited to the Eucharist Service on Saturday, 8/9/14, at 8:30 p.m. and then stay for Candlelight at 9:30 p.m. Remember how you were blessed on your weekend by the 4th day at Candlelight! The Closing Service is open to anyone who would like to come and see what a Journey or Chrysalis weekend is about. The Closing will start at 4:30 p.m. at Christian Fellowship Church. You still have time to sponsor someone between 18 (and out of High School) and 24 years of age. Contact Karen Kulenkamp if you have someone who can attend. Call Karen at 812-480-1069 as soon as possible.

We also need servers for meals. Please contact Mary Getz at 812-499-2597 or marygetz70@gmail.com. God Bless you for being His Body! In Christ & Rejoicing! Help put your Mark on the next Walks! Are you artistic? Are you craftsy? Or would you just like to have some fun and help EDWE at the same time? EDWE has purchased cream-colored coffee mugs to use during our walks. We will be decorating them at the next few gathering DIY for those who would like to put their mark on the walks. Rebecca Fenn will have the primary and pastel paint markers and mugs at the next few Gatherings so come up with a design and come early to paint a mug. We need designs for men and women. You can see a few examples below or come up with your own drawings of animals, things in nature, musical notes, favorite scripture, doodles, etc. We just ask that it be something that evokes positive feelings. No sports teams logos, proper names, church names or business names, please.
