BLESSING OF THE BACKPACKS During the service today, all students, teachers and other educational leaders in the school system will be invited to come forward to the chancel area for a special blessing. Anyone who is involved in the school system (teachers, both regular and substitute, paraprofessionals, administration, office workers, custodians, cafeteria workers and any others) is invited to take part. We ll also be presenting a small gift to everyone who comes forward for the blessing! SPECIAL OFFERING FOR FLOOD RELIEF TODAY Today, you have the opportunity to give an offering to help with Hurricane Harvey flood relief. All monies given will go the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), where 100% of donations go to relief efforts, not administration. You can bring your offering to the basket in the front when you come up for Holy Communion. If you re giving by check, please make it out to Elkton UMC and write UMCOR or Hurricane Relief on the memo line. NEXT SUNDAY IS KICKOFF SUNDAY! THE WIRED WORD DISCUSSION GROUP United Methodists headed to Austin on August 1 st and were among 500 people attending an interfaith advocacy event to send a message to Texas legislators that Y all means All. This was to encourage lawmakers to vote against a North Carolinastyle bathroom bill. The group will meet and discuss the topic of gender identity on Thursday, September 14 th at 7 p.m. in the Chapel.
