FROM THE COMMANDER I want to thank the Ladies Auxiliary, the Color Guard and those that participated in the Four Chaplains Service. It was a great success and the dessert buffet was fantastic. Jerry Larson has stepped down as our Kitchen Manager. Toni Hovermill has asked to take Jerry s place. We wish her great success in that position. The Post accepts credit cards now, so there is no need to go to the bank before coming to the Post. Due to the bulletin being bi-monthly, events happen that sometimes do not make the bulletin due to being scheduled after the bulletin is mailed. Stop by and check to see what may be happening during the month that may not have made it into the bulletin. Our Post has been non-smoking for 4 months now, if you have not been to the Post in a while, drop by to see what changes have been made. Come out and support the member s hard work that they do to present their events. I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge the hard work done by our volunteers that cover the kitchen and the maintenance done at the Post. Come out and support the hard work that they do. If you want to volunteer, just come to the Post on the day you want to help. Experience is not required! If you have a suggestion, please call, email, or place it in the suggestion box. All items are reviewed and placed under consideration. See you at upcoming events. FROM THE 1 st VICE COMMANDER This being my first year as 1st Vice Commander in charge of membership, I would like to thank all of you that have renewed your membership for 2017. I thank you. As of January 28, we have a total of 644 members that have renewed their membership. We have a total of 803 members listed with the Department of Florida which puts us at approximately 84 percent of being 100 percent. I would like to reach that goal before the 2018 renewal program starts July 1st of this year. The last year that we had 100 percent renewal was 2015; let s see if we can do that again for our post. Let s get those renewals in!! We have had quite a lot of transfers from other posts coming into our post which must mean that our post is one that other veterans want to be members of. The way it works is, when you enter you will be given a list of items. You have to find ten things on the list and get your picture taken with those things. Then when you return you draw a poker hand and the best hand wins. Proceeds go to allow the Legion Riders to help homeless veterans as well as visits and events with the veterans at the Avante Assisted Living Facility. Come on out on March 4th, it is a lot of fun..
