VOLUME 45, ISSUE 33 WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS August 19, 2018 MONDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY Get your week off to a great start! Join Rev. Dr. Jeff Maxwell for Monday morning Bible study. Here are a few words about this year s study from Rev. Maxwell: The Book of Acts will be our focus for exploration as we see how to live as God intends. Some of the major ideas to be explored are: a Gospel that cannot be contained, divine initiative and human responsibility, and the subtle yet powerful work of the Holy Spirit. Join in the adventure as we study Scripture and consider what God is saying to us and seek to put it into practice. Our study begins on Sept. 17 and will conclude on Dec. 10. We meet from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Monday mornings in Fellowship Hall. Mark your calendars for this night of navigating our goals for the upcoming year! Schedule: 6 pm Training time, fill out paperwork for everyone 6:30-7:30 pm Dinner and break-out sessions This event, which will take place in Fellowship Hall, is for anyone who leads, teaches or ministers to people in our church. This includes ANY persons who work with children, youth, or adults including Sunday School teachers, group leaders, youth counselors, music leaders, lay visitation persons, etc. Annually, all these volunteers have paperwork that needs updating and so we will do this all together at the Navigation Night. We will finish by 7:30 pm. Chancel Choir Our Chancel choir sings as the service choir in most worship services from September through May. We love to get together to make music, to have fun, to eat food occasionally, and above all, to praise God through music. We sing a variety of styles of choral music, from the standard traditional settings of hymn tunes, to more contemporary anthems. We welcome anyone from high school age on up to come and join our choir. Reading music is not a requirement - we will teach you the part you will be singing. We rehearse each song thoroughly enough so that all can be confident singers each Sunday. It is a joy to meet with this amazing group of dedicated singers each week to have fellowship and fun, while learning songs to lead our congregation in song. Questions? Please call Grace Marra, 631-1152. Wesley Men sing in worship about five or six times throughout the year. We meet on Sundays, just after first service, for about a half hour. We sing in three and four part harmony, and love to make music for our Lord. If you want to sing in church, but not so often as some, this might be the choir for you! We welcome any and all guys who like to sing! Wesley Women sing in worship about five or six times throughout the year. We meet on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. for about 45 minutes. We sing in three and four part harmony, and have a lot of fun! This is a choir that may fit a busy schedule, as we do not sing quite so often. We welcome newcomers, and would love to have you join our group! And, as always, For Him we sing! Grace Page 6
