Because you chose to CARE. As Christmas time approaches, we can think of no better time to say thank you again, for all of the love, prayers and support our family has been shown since T.C. s passing. T. C., I know, would want us to relay this message. We hope this gift of appreciation in memory of T.C. can be used to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching hem to obey everything I have commanded you. Come join us! Our book for February is 90 Minutes in Heaven; A Story of Life and Death by Don Piper. Several copies are available at the Dobson Community Library. We will meet at 7:00 pm at Camilla Cook s home on Tuesday, February 26 th. Sandy White Leader Children s Choir begins Wednesday, 3:15 pm February 7th for any children who are unable to attend L252 on Wednesday evenings. Come and join us! Ms. Patti At our January business meeting, we had a lot of discussion on doors. Specifically, in options for replacing the front doors of the sanctuary and the back door at the Playschool entrance. There is much to consider; functionality (for greeters, security purposes, longevity), cost and aesthetics, just to name a few. So what is a door? We all know, but Webster defines a door as a usually swinging or sliding barrier by which an entry is closed and opened and also in the context of a means of access or participation. We all have probably had a door opened for us, and probably open doors for others. Call me old fashioned, but I still like to hold the door open for people. Most of the time we get a smile and a thank you, and the hope that we can make someone s day a little brighter. We have all heard the saying that if God closes one door, He opens another one. Think about how nice it is to have a door opened for you, now let s look a little further at what the Bible says about doors. Paul references the word door several times. He thanks God for opening doors and prays for God to continue opening doors. In Acts 14:27 it states When they had arrived and gathered the church together, they began to report all things that God had done with them and how He had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles. And then in 1 st Corinthians 16:8-9 Paul writes I will remain in Ephesus until Pentecost, for a wide door for effective service has opened to me. At Dobson First Baptist Church, we are certainly focused a little more on tangible doors right now; however, I think of all the doors of faith being opened in our church as well, especially for our children in L252 on Wednesdays and to all on Sunday mornings. As Paul asked in Colossians 4:3 praying that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, let us open our hearts to what doors of faith God has planned for us personally, for our church family and our community. -Jeremy Branch

Pastor s Office Hours Monday-Thursday 8:00 am-4:00pm Wednesday 8:00 am-7:00 pm Sunday 7:30am-12 noon Contact Pastor Honeycutt Email: coryhoneycut@gmail.com WHY MISSIONS? WHY WMU? The focus for Woman s Missionary Union for this year is Unshakable Pursuit, based on 1 Corinthians 15:58: My dear friends, stand firm and don t be shaken. Always keep busy working for the Lord. You know that everything you do for Him is worthwhile. Our objective is to know God more, show His love unconditionally, and make disciples who make disciples. We are to be radically involved in the mission of God. The why builds upon different facets of our Christian faith, beginning with: WHO GOD IS God is the creator, the sustainer, and sovereign over all of his creation. He is holy, righteous and just. AND He is the Father who loves us and delights in relationship with Him. WHAT HE DID Our why continues in the knowledge of the person and the work of Christ Jesus. Jesus lived to seek us out, and He died to save us. And to all who receive Him and believe Him, He gives the right to become children of God. WHO WE ARE That informs our belief about the structure of the church. God is our Father, and we are His children; therefore, the church is a family with Christ as its Head. As a family, we learn and grow together and we obey Christ s commands. WHAT WE ARE TO DO As the church, we play a part in God s redemptive purposes for the world. Jesus commanded us to love God with all our hearts, our souls, our minds, and our strength, and to love others as we love ourselves. Jesus also commissioned us to go into all the world and make disciples. WHY DOES WMU DO WHAT WE DO? Our loving Father God gave His son, Jesus, to save us and in obedience to Jesus, we as God s children extend His love to others in order that they, too, will believe and join the family. HOW? We seek partners to be available and willing to do missions. After all, that is a mandate of all Christians from God. Keep busy working for the Lord, because all you do for Him is worthwhile. We never grasp that concept of missions unless we go out and do it for ourselves. ~Ann Weaver~
