Greetings in the Name of Jesus Our Lord. We have come to worship our great God who has given us His Son, who suffered, laid down His life and rose from the dead as our Savior. Since Jesus did everything necessary for us to live our life in fellowship with him, the song of the Psalmist can become our very own. I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:23-26 We welcome Pastor Arlan Koppendrayer who will lead our worship today. Classis Lake Superior Classis Lake Superior met Monday-Tuesday this week at Calvary CRC in Edina, MN. As per usual, it was a wonderful time of fellowship, learning, praying, discussion, and decision-making. Some of the highlights from this meeting: Pre-classis seminar on Monday led by the Prayer Mobilizers. Some learning about prayer, but mostly we were given the chance to spend the afternoon in prayer for each other, our churches, the denomination, and other items of praise and concern on our hearts. Monday evening we welcomed Ben Vandezande, the Interim Director of Canadian Ministries, to lead us in a discussion about priorities for ministry in the denomination and what sort of leadership would enable us to flourish as churches and ministries within our respective countries, Canada and the USA. Report from the oversight committee regarding Article 17 of Rev. Reyenga from Sept. 2012. Diaconal Ministries Canada presentation about the role of deacons and the "Diakonia Remix" report to Synod 2013. Candidate Ken Douma of Covenant CRC in Winnipeg sustained his examination and was admitted to the office of Minister of the Word in the CRCNA. Classis was blessed to hear the testimony of his faith and calling, and is excited to see how God will use him in this new capacity! Prayer Mobilizers shared testimony of amazing ways that they have seen God answering prayers. Moves: ο Rev. Jeff Vanderhooft accepted a call to Willmar CRC ο Ministerial Credentials moved upon retirement: Rev. Henry Vander Beek to Dunnville, ON and Rev. Dave Smit to Sioux Center, IA Special thanks to the officers of classis, vice president Rev. Bob Vance, and president Rev. Archie Vander Hart, who also set a new precedent for decision making when, to break a tie vote on next meeting's officers, wrote the two names on water bottles, hid them behind his back, and asked the vice present to "pick a hand."
