HEROD KILLS JOHN THE BAPTIST Matthew 14 1 At that time Herod the tetrarch heard of the fame of Jesus (A different Herod than the one in Matthew 2; son of that one.), (Read Mark 6:14-29 for the evidence of this Herod. The Bible tells us 14 And king Herod heard of him; (for his name was spread abroad:) and he said, That John the Baptist was risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him. 15 Others said, That it is Elias (Elijah). And others said, That it is a prophet, or as one of the prophets (Were all confused-did not know the law of God.). 16 But when Herod heard thereof, he said, It is John, whom I beheaded: he is risen from the dead. 17For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife: for he had married her. 18 For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother's wife. 19 Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him; but she could not: 20 For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly. 21 And when a convenient day was come, that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his lords, high captains, and chief estates of Galilee; 22 And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee. 23 And he sware unto her, Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, unto the half of my kingdom. 24 And she went forth, and said unto her mother, What shall I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptist. 25 And she came in straightway with haste unto the king, and asked, saying, I will that thou give me by and by in a charger the head of John the Baptist. 26 And the king was exceeding sorry; yet for his oath's sake, and for their sakes which sat with him, he would not reject her. 27 And immediately the king sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought: and he went and beheaded him in the prison, 28 And brought his head in a charger, and gave it to the damsel: and the damsel gave it to her mother. 29 And when his disciples heard of it, they came and took up his corpse, and laid it in a tomb. Mark 6:14-29) 2 And said unto his servants, This is John the Baptist (superstition); he is risen from the dead; and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him. 3 For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife (Why he thinks this way.). 4 For John said unto him, It is not lawful for thee to have her (According to the king or no king-this man did not fear God and wanted to kill John.) (The Bible
tells us 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. 12 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. 13 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. 14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. Ephesians 5:11-14). (The Bible tells us 2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. 2 Timothy 4:2-5) 5 And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude (not God), because they counted him as a prophet (The Bible tells us 4 All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, 5 Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass. 6 And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them, Matthew 21:4-6 Read Zechariah 9:9 which says 9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass. ). 6 But when Herod's birthday was kept, the daughter (Niece) of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod. 7 Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatsoever she would ask (Custom of the King; whatever you want.). 8 And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me here John Baptist's head in a charger (Demonic activity behind the scene.). 9 And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the oath's sake, and them which sat with him at meat, he commanded it to be given her (Credibility was at stake and cared more about what the people thought than God; horrible nature.) 10 And he sent, and beheaded John in the prison. 11 And his head was brought in a charger, and given to the damsel: and she brought it to her mother (What kind of spirit is this.). 12 And his disciples came, and took up the body, and buried it, and went and told Jesus.
JESUS FEEDS FIVE THOUSAND 13 When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship (boat) into a desert (deserted) place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities (Mourning for His cousin.). 14 And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick (The Bible tells us 30 And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught. 31 And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert(ed) place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat. 32 And they departed into a desert place by ship privately. 33 And the people saw them departing, and many knew him, and ran afoot thither out of all cities, and outwent them, and came together unto him. 34 And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things. 35 And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came unto him, and said, This is a desert(ed) place, and now the time is far passed: 36 Send them away, that they may go into the country round about, and into the villages, and buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to eat. 37 He answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat? 38 He saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes. 39 And he commanded them to make all sit down by companies upon the green grass. 40 And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties. 41 And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all. 42 And they did all eat, and were filled. 43 And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes. 44 And they that did eat of the loaves were about five thousand men. 45 And straightway he constrained his disciples to get into the ship, and to go to the other side before unto Bethsaida, while he sent away the people. Mark 6:30-45). 15 And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert(ed) place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals. 16 But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat. 17 And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes. 18 He said, Bring them hither to me.
19 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude (Part of the culture of religion.). 20 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full (The nature of God, over, above and beyond; obedience is the key of faith.). 21 And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children (The people went after Him, sought Him and found Him-seek ye first the kingdom of God ). JESUS WALKS ON WATER 22 And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship (Sea of Galilee.), and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. 23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain (Hill) apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone (The Bible tells us 15 When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone (His disciples had a problem with faith.). 16 And when even was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea, 17 And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them. 18 And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew. 19 So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid. 20 But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid. 21 Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went. 24 But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. 25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. 26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. 27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. 28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. 29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. John 6:15-21) 24 But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary (Can be violent, unexpected storms on the sea.). 25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea (The Bible tells us 8 Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea. Job 9:8)
26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. 27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. 28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, (command) bid me come unto thee on the water. (2 nd man to walk on water.) 29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was (had) come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. 31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? 32 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased (The Bible tells us 29 He maketh the storm calm, so that the waves thereof are still. Psalm 107:29). 33 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God (The Bible tells us 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. Matthew 16:16) (The Bible tells us 63 But Jesus held his peace, And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God. Matthew 26:63) (The Bible tells us 41 And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ. Luke 4:41) (The Bible tells us 37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Acts 8:37). JESUS HEALS ALL WHO TOUCH HIM 34 And when they were gone over, they came into the land of Gennesaret. 35 And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased (We should want both physical and spiritually healing.); 36 And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole (Royal Priesthood, special clothes and to add a blue tread indicating He obeyed the law of God). JESUS FEEDS FIVE THOUSAND WHEN JESUS HEARD OF IT, HE DEPARTED THENCE BY BOAT INTO A DESERTED PLACE APART; AND WHEN THE PEOPLE HAD HEARD THEREOF, THEY FOLLWED HIM ON FOOT OUT OF THE CITIES. AND JESUS WENT FORTH, AND SAW A GREAT MULTITUDE, AND WAS MOVED WITH COMPASSION TOWARD THEM, AND HE HEALED THEIR SICK. (Those who were faithful to Him.) AND WHEN IT WAS EVENING, HIS DISCIPLES CAME TO HIM, SAYING, THIS IS A DESERTED PLACE, AND THE TIME IS NOW PAST; SEND THE MULTITUDE AWAY THAT THEY MAY GO INTO THE VILLAGES, AND BUY THEMSELVES VICTUALS. BUT JESUS SAID UNTO THEM, THEY NEED NOT DEPART; GIVE YE THEM TO EAT. AND THEY SAY UNTO WE HAVE HERE FIVE LOAVES, AND TWO FISHES. HE SAID BRING THEM HITHER TO ME. AND HE COMMANDED THE MULTITUDE TO SIT DOWN ON THE GRASS, AND TOOK THE FIVE LOAVES, AND THE
TWO FISHES, AND LOOKING UP TO HEAVEN, HE BLESSED, AND BRAKE, AND GAVE THE LOAVES TO HIS DISCIPLES, AND THE DISCIPLES TO THE MULTITUDE. AND THEY DID ALL EAT, AND WERE FILLED: AND THEY TOOK UP THE FRAGMENTS THAT REMAINED TWELVE BASKETS FULL. AND THEY THAT HAD EATEN WERE ABOUT FIVE THOUSAND MEN, BESIDE WOMEN AND CHILDREN. (THE PEOPLE WENT AFTER HIM, SOUGHT HIM AND FOUND HIM-SEEK YE FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD ) MEMORY VERSE BUT STRAIGHTWAY JESUS SPAKE UNTO THEM, SAYING, BE OF GOOD CHEER; IT IS I; BE NOT AFRAID.
