Silence Advent Candle Lighting The second candle of Advent is the Candle of Peace. Peace is a word that we hear a lot. It is one of the things that we hope for. Christ brought peace when he first came to us and he will bring everlasting peace when, he comes again. (a person lights the candle of peace) We light the candle of peace to remind us that Jesus is the Prince of Peace and that through him peace is found. Congregation - Let us pray: Thank you God for the peace you give us. Help us to prepare the way for your coming with your peace. Be present with us, today, and every day to worship you, to hear your word, and to do your will by sharing your peace with each other. We ask it in the name of the one who was born in Bethlehem. Amen. Processional An Advent Processional... D. Pearson Greeting... p. 185

But even in these seemingly hopeless times the prophet has a vision of the future, of God and the heavenly court. First Reading Isaiah 40:1-11... Nik Ward Campbell Psalm 85:1-2, 8-13 (sung with congregation)... p.818 Aware that he will soon die, the author leaves his fellow Christians with a testimony of what being Christian demands. Some people denied that Christ would return because early Christians expected the world to end within their lifetimes. Second Reading Peter 3:8-15a...Deb Sheach Gradual Hymn 100:1-2... Comfort, Comfort Ye My People Both Isaiah and Malachi prophesied that, before the Messiah comes at the end of the era, a prophet will come to prepare the way for him.
