SUMMER VACATION TIME IS UPON US! All of us at St. Paul s hope that you have a restful and enjoyable summer vacation wherever you may find yourself during the beautiful summer days in New England. As you head off from Harvard Square, please be sure to remember St. Paul s during the summer months. Although a more relaxed pace takes over, the good work of proclaiming Jesus Christ very much continues here the sacraments are celebrated, the outreach continues in a variety of forms, visitors are welcomed and year-round parishioners are in and out, and yes, the regular expenses continue even in the summer. Your weekly offertory contribution is of great help during the summer while you are away you can set a recurring gift through our on-line giving portal on the parish web site or by using the new Giving- Kiosk in the vestibule of the church. Thank you for remembering St. Paul s while you are away! SUMMER CHAPEL AT ST. PAUL S The Summer Chapel in the air conditioned DiGiovanni Hall will be open through Labor Day weekend. All weekday Masses (Mon-Fri 8:00am and 12:10pm) as well as the Saturday 9:00am and 5:00pm Vigil and the Sunday 7:30am Masses will be celebrated in DiGiovanni Hall. Please note that Sunday 9:30 and 11:00am Masses will continue to be celebrated in the church. AC UNIT IN DIGIOVANNI HALL Shortly after moving into DiGiovanni Hall for the summer, we learned that the AC unit was not functioning. We are in the process of fixing the problem. A new unit has been ordered and will be installed once we have the necessary permits. This was unexpected and is a cost that we were not anticipating. The new unit should be installed within the next two weeks. SIXTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME ARCH REPAIR SUMMER 2014 The repairs to the plaster arch above the sanctuary are fully underway at this time. The work will consist of carefully protecting the stone surfaces then erecting a scaffold system. The plaster arch with receive new internal supports and deteriorated plaster will be replaced. In addition to scaffolding in the sanctuary, there will be a temporary shoring installed in the lower church. This shoring installation will support the internal structural members of the sanctuary so that no damage occurs to the altar stones. Work is expected to last until mid-september 2014. A wood platform has been built forward of the communion rail to allow for the temporary placement of the altar for the 9:30am and 11:00am Sunday Masses. All other Masses will take place in DiGiovanni Hall. Please feel free to contact David Dankens or Andy Griswold with any questions. LITURGICAL PUBLICATIONS INC (LPI) BULLETIN Our Bulletin is a primary way we use to communicate with you. Through our arrangement with Liturgical Publications Inc., the Church does not pay for the Bulletin printing, which saves us thousands of dollars every year. Our Bulletin is supported through the generosity of the advertisers many of which are our own Church parishioners or members of our local community. During these difficult economic times, please support our advertisers with your patronage. Tell the business owner that you appreciate their support of our Church through their advertising in the Bulletin. This is one small way we can work within our community to weather these challenging times. A strong and vibrant Bulletin is a good for our community and a strong community is good for the our Church. A sales rep from LPI will at St. Paul the week of July 27. If you or someone you know is interested in advertising, please call the Parish Center at (617) 491-8400. Remember, Restore, Renew Restoration Fund Drive Our Restoration Fund Drive is off to an excellent start! Thank you to the many families that have pledged to support this effort. If you have not decided on your gift to the drive, we invite you to prayerfully consider making your pledge this week. Please review the suggested gift plans and continue the success of our campaign by making your gift as soon as possible! You may place your Commitment Envelope in the regular collection at Mass. If you forgot to bring your pledge envelope to Mass this weekend, please mail it to the parish office this week or bring it with you to Mass next weekend. Additional brochures and pledge envelopes are available at the entrance to the church. Thank you for considering this request and all you do for St. Paul Parish!
